Meridian4 and SCS Software announce that
your chance to live out your Ralph Kramden fantasies are near, as Bus Driver
is gold, and will be available for digital distribution later this month:
Montreal, Quebec, Canada – May 5, 2008 – Meridian4
(http://www.meridian4.com) and SCS Software are pleased to announce that Bus
Driver has gone gold and will be ready to ship to retail stores and be available
for digital download in May.
“We have been working with SCS Software to change some minor things in the game
for the North American market.” said Jeff Giasson, Production Director at
Meridian4, “There was very little to be done to this surprisingly addictive
driving sim.”
About Bus Driver
In Bus Driver, your job is to transport passengers around an attractive and
realistic city. You must drive to a timetable on a planned route, while obeying
traffic rules, and taking care not to upset or injure your passengers. This
makes Bus Driver unlike any other driving game - the experience of driving a bus
is very different from blazing through a racing circuit.
• 12 buses to drive – detailed models inspired by
real-world buses, including London’s double-decker bus, America’s school bus,
Europe’s low floor buses and many more
• 30 routes arranged into 5 tiers with increasing
difficulty
• Multiple duties, such as driving a school bus,
transporting tourists, sight-seeing tours and even the transportation of
prisoners
• High replay value based on sophisticated system of
traffic rules and game-play related bonuses.
• Large city to drive in, with several districts of
varying styles: modern, old-town, suburb, airport, harbor and more with
day/night cycles and realistic weather conditions.
• Living roads with intelligent traffic controlled
by AI system
• Non-violent, easy to pick up gameplay, suitable
for all ages.

the flight sim genre is DEAD...and they make $hit like this..what a sad state of affairs.. I wouldn't say it's dead. It just has a niche market.
I know a few FlightSim fans, and many of them are really die-hard. Flying a real-life route in real-time for a few hours is actually fun to them, and they enjoy as much realism as possible. Fuel consumption, drift, traffic controllers, etc. I actually find some of the things they pretty mind-boggling, as it sounds like a snore-fest.
Personally I'd rather hop into a combat sim, perhaps with slightly less realistic flight physics, but to them I probably sound like an immature kid saying that. |

Can I blaze through a racing circuit with a bus full of people? I am sure there will be a SPEED mod.

I like how they say you have to "obey traffic laws and not upset your passengers" which makes it different from "blazing through a racing circuit". What the hell sounds more fun here?!
Can I blaze through a racing circuit with a bus full of people?

I think next it should be SimSimulator. Simulate someone playing a simulator. Eat unhealthy snacks and soda's, while simulating eating unhealthy snacks and sodas. while Improving your character's character's stats.
This would be interesting if it were tied into a version of GTA4 perhaps, but how fucking utterly bored would you have to be to play something like this?
What could even bring someone to write a game like this. I ride the bus pretty often, and it's a nightmare in cities. There are incredibly loud, rude people, homepless people pissing in the back, etc. I threw a crazy asshole of the bus a few months ago becaus he started hitting on a fifteen or so year old girl, I fucking lost it -fortuneatly I'm a big guy and people listine when I'm screaming at the top of my lungs so no blows had to be thrown.
In any case, what fucking brings someone to write a Busdriver simulator?

I used to drive a bus in California. Does this game include routes that need to be finished in 30 minutes, but which actually take 45? But which actually ends up being over an hour because you had to pick up 10 wheelchairs along the way?
Or the angry gang member who doesn't pay and threatens you if you say anything about it? Or the prick in the SUV that tail gates, then speeds up to pass you only to immediately cut you off to take a right turn? Or how about all the passengers who don't speak any english and expect you to know where they want to go?
Now if this game doesn't have violent and/or hilarious remedies to these problems, then no, who the hell would want to play it?

Im still waiting for a good Racing Sim to hit the PC scene. Seems they all went the console way a looong time ago Uh, ever heard of GTR? RACE? Live For Speed? rFactor? They may not have the best graphics but they are much better sims than anything you'd find on a console.

I wonder if it has acrobat pedestrians that always jump out of the way like in Midtown Madness.
The other night I had an unfortunate citizen on the hood of my car for about a block in GTA IV.
