Out of the Blue

Iron Man opens today! I've still got things I'm dealing with here after changing computers and ISPs recently, but I am very motivated to make the time to get out and see this soon. First, because I'm greatly looking forward to it, and second, because I don't want to be exposed to negative reviews, should there be any, as that can really take the wind out of my sails (I still haven't seen Spider-Man 3).

Links of Iron: Thanks Ant and Mike Martinez.
Link of the Day: First Drawing of Spider-Man Now at Library of Congress.
Play: Alios Army.
Massive Space Tower Defense.
Stories: Airlines slow down flights to save on fuel.
NY Bans Grisly Electrocution-for-Fur Method.
Media: Lost in the City.

Wife and I went tonight. Just got back. We both loved it and gotta agree with you guys that RDJ was absolutely perfect for it. Seriously fun movie, both for the cool factor of the suits and the great dialog. Set up perfectly for the next one too

I agree with nin.

I enjoyed it.

He played the part perfectly, and the little zingers kept coming. Dialogue was pretty well written. Everyone seemed to mesh pretty well. Not winning any Oscars in all likelihood, but if you like the superhero movies in general, you would probably like this one. Even if you don't, you still might like it.

I have to disagree w/ Pirates 3: it was a good movie. And Bourne 3 was decent (not great, but decent).

But I agree with the others you listed (Spider3, Xmen3, and SHrek3).

Tom Morello also made a small appearance in the movie Made. He was getting a lap dance in the opening sequence.

It (Bourne 3) was better than the 2nd movie

Gotta agree. Almost didn't see B3 because of B2, but was glad I did ...

Thats a good thing Blue, its was a waste of time. Just like Pirates 3, Xmen 3, Shrek 3, Bourne 3 all a total waste of time, pure crap cranked out to cash in on the name brands.

24. nin's mini review... May 2, 2008, 16:04 nin

Ok, just got back...overall, pretty good. Not mindblowingly awesome, but still a great way to start the summer movies season, and far better than some of Marvel's previous movies...oh, and RDJ was PERFECT for the role. He IS Tony Stark.

And that post credits bit wasn't much, so if you miss it, don't feel too bad. Hell, I'll SST it:

Stark walks back into his house, only to find Jarvis' voice sounding garbled. Against the window is a shadow, who tells Stark he's part of the big leagues now, bla bla bla, and they need to discuss "the avenger project" (I believe was his term). And the shadow is revealed to be...Samuel "Mothafuckin" Jackson, complete with eye patch, as Nick Fury.

And did anyone else catch the 5 second cameo of Tom Morello (yes, THAT Tom Morello) early on??? I was "Hey! That looks like...naaaaaaaaa, couldn't be." and then he's listed in the credits...

Did you watch the cartoon?
The cartoon sucked as well, which makes this perfect.

Gotta agree. Pix and I have been going back and forth on that one: He says it's totally going to suck, and I say "Of course it's going to suck! That's THE POINT!!!!"

edit: Ah, this explains it (bottom of the article, but slight spoilers pertaining to my SST above):

in a seat that the f*cking teenager before me spilled his pop on, next to another f*cking teenager and his f*cking cell phone.

??? It isn't so much as the teens around here as the baby's moma's with their cells phones and the babies mama's daddies with their cell phones....

I found some great places to go - real dives that are pitch black, no one goes there, sounds is amazing, floor is sticky, etc.......but hoping this is at the IMAX where I saw Batman Begins.

http://www.imax.com/minnesota/

Nope. Speed Racer will be there though. Will have to make a trip - but in JULY they have the new Batman movie. Sweet deal.

We spend all this money to go to the damn theater only to see the movie on this old crappy screen

I live in a small town that is the zenith of shitty movie theaters. It's why I seldom go - - I'd rather watch it in HD on my LCD with surround sound at home, rather than shitty/grainy with blasting loud mono sound, in a seat that the f*cking teenager before me spilled his pop on, next to another f*cking teenager and his f*cking cell phone.

Oops, kinda went off on a rant there ...

It's an incredible movie, I saw it last night after work. Don't really know what else to say about it, it's just a hell of a lot of fun to see.

Make sure and stay after the credits for a short snippet you won't want to miss if you're a comics fan.

So I get this e-mail from Blockbuster saying I get a free DVD if I come back to "Total Access" - their online rental dealie.

So, my gift would be the DVD "American Gangster" - I don't think they are going to get many people biting on that one.....which just validates my opinion of that movie, how bad it was, and you couldn't give it away! heh.

what's the fascination with finishing a game so fast? i remember when the wow expansion was released, someone finished it in like 2 or 3 days. isn't the idea to enjoy the game and not rush through it? you miss the *FUN*.

damn kids...

I agree 100%. I am 29% through and have very little of the game world open to me. I just started Manny's quests.

But - if I didnt' have a job and only played games, there is a contest for 1 week - that you get a "key to the city" as one of the people who played 100% in the first 7 days....

So, there is that...but you are right, I am enjoying the game like a huge book....and trying to play it as close to RL as possible (no murderous rampages, etc.) and only doing "bad" thinks when required by a mission.

//heh - someone completed the game 100% in 17 minutes. I think they didn't block the easiest cheat - to save a game near the end after doing 99% of the game, then rolling your xbox360 clock back and opening up that save right after yuor save from the beginning of the game....... sad. 4 people have done 100%. 17 minutes, 18 hours (cheater), 28 hours and 30 hours (maybe possible?)
