But that doesn't mean that you should have the option of playing the full game without paying for it.
That kind of attitude is why the PC gaming industry is suffering. It's not about selling the customers a good product. It's about getting the money. Get the money before they change their mind, because they probably will once they see a little bit more of our game.
Here is a scenario I can live with:
Buy a game at the store, take it home and start playing it and after a certain amount of time or progress in the game it will ask me to activate it, or ask if I want to continue (and activate the game). Or I can just activate it in the beginning. I can live with that. And if I choose not to activate it then I can return it.
It's hard to trust demo's anymore. They cut out major features in the game in hopes of enticing people to buy the full version just to see if they like those features. And the full version runs differently than the demo in many cases. Little hiccups that weren't in the demo, slower loading, etc.
Just let us try the full product and decide if we like it. If we don't we can return it, no harm no foul, and if we like it then everyone is happy. No?
And spare me the whole "it can be cracked" argument. I really don't give a fuck is some twit cracks your game. I care that my $50-$60 is spent on something that I actually want. You have spent so much time and energy on making sure people have to pay you that many people just don't want to even put up with your crap anymore.
I'm a paying customer. I buy games I want to play. And I refuse to buy most PC games at full price because they just aren't worth it. I wait for them to go on clearance and then all the BS is finally worth it because I'm only paying $10-$20 and if I don't like the game I'm fine with considering that cost a trial fee. But that doesn't make me play or buy a lot of games. I'd try and buy A LOT more games if these companies were not such a bunch of dicks about all this stuff.
