Who's numbers are you using? How big is massive? The copyright industry lies about the statistics all the time.
It doesn't require anyones numbers to know how massive piracy is when you were once directly involved with it. It's first-hand knowledge that I have from my own experience.
Hell back when I was with EA Canada (12 yrs ago), people would put pirated games/software on the company network to share with EVERYONE from Executives to QA. Eventually they cracked down on it, but it didn't really stop.
No, you're a loser for supporting their immoral exploitation of a broken system.
"their" ... that would imply that you are removed from the software or intellectual property based business, so you obviously have no clue as to the effect it has on others, nor do you seem to care. The system is not perfect, nor is any other. But for now it's what we have with different variations on it.
I think you misunderstand the difference between support and working with what is currently available. Piracy is not going to change how the system works, all it does is strengthen the position against it. But working with the system, speaking with your dollar and not acting like you are obligated or have the right to every piece of someones hard work that comes out, that will change how things work in the future.
The reason things are the way they are today, is because of piracy. Piracy did not begin because of draconian measures to protect ones materials.
