Perhaps in a real time strategy game, but combat is not what a real time strategy game is.
MMOs take the most boring parts of an RTS (click once, wait an interminable amount of time while something happens) and combine them with the most boring parts of old-school RPGs (wander around endlessly improving your 'experience' score)
"cream of the crop of PvP players" .. woot, who can get the most devastating combination of equipment, but since we're giving away all the most devastating, you'll all figuer it out in 20 minutes, and then it'll be nothing but a "click here to kill your opponent. flip a coin."
I've seen it ALL before.

Well having an entry cost also prevents every single idiot in the game signing up for it.

Blue's post doesn't mention that you have to pay an extra $20 to use the Arena servers per six weeks.
Yea, skillz with the wallet!

This sounds like a lot of fun, however it still isn't really going to appeal to any of the "casual" players.
If you aren't using a dozen third party add-ons and have all of your skills scripted out, you can forget about competing.

Gee, couldn't you ultimately say the same thing about a first person shooter or a real time strategy game? Seriously, it's time to get off the high horse of ignorance.

Considering the amount of "skill" and "talent" required in an MMO to attack things is "place cursor on what you want to attack", "click", "wait until one of you dies" ... who cares? You go ahead and believe that stereotype

uh, that's why they made classes - to give purpose and thought to those things a player "click"(s). But, most WoW players don't "click" they use these things called "macros" if they have "skill" or "talent" or else they'd end up with arthritis from "plaing] cursor on what you want to attack".
