We played the demo they provided us. And it was shit. Repetitive textures, crappy level design, the same monsters, over and over.

Ray and I both said at the time that it literally looked liked a $20 budget title.

i remember trying out the demo just to see what they were offering people and it was shocking badly. ive never seen anything so quickly chucked together and thrown out the door.

and i cant fault you guys for hating it based on the demo you tried, because the demo was terrible.

Of course, I always wonder how many people bashing it have actually played it.

Developers had a bad license agreement - but don't think for a second that it was Flagship that forced it out the door.

As always, it was EA.

Of course, I always wonder how many people bashing it have actually played it.

i was in the alpha/beta and played it since.

i find that the core-game itself is quite good, thats why the rest of the bullshit angers me. it completely killed the game before it had a chance.

im not talking about reviewers or gamers, im talking about the devs themselves. all this bullshit price modeling and giving priorities to certain members and the biggest one of course, launching the game before it was ready.

i think they have may underestimated the power of word of mouth too.

i dont understand how they are continuing developing things for it, when other companies are shutting their doors?

this game is like savage 2

don't ship the game months before it is done, stupid fucking idiot developers.

It's almost as if they haven't been watching the history of game development, the one where everything successful WASN'T a piece of shit when it shipped.

This games ranks in my top 5 as the biggest POS ever, case in point remember this from Asia..

Thank you for your patience while we worked to upload Patch0 onto our local servers. For the past two weeks, IAHGames and our partners have worked overnight almost everyday as they attempted to implement Patch0 onto our existing servers.
In the end, it has been determined that there is no way to implement Patch0 onto our Hellgate: London servers without also discarding relevant player data.
Because of this, when Patch0 is installed on Tuesday, there will be a complete character wipe.

Ha Ha Ha fucking inexcusable.

In all fairness, it was my understanding that wipe was averted...but only after people pitched a fit over it, understandably.

Fault finding is a common ego boosting practice. You put yourself in a position of superiority, in this case, to the game.

When people spend money on a product, and it greatly falls short of reasonable expectations, the person spending the money has every right to vent.

I'm glad it's failing in an epic way. It's sending a message out to developers that shit like this simply will not work with gamers.

I loved the concept story of Hellgate - but after watching the previews, playing the demo, and seeing how they treat customers, I will never touch this game nor anything made by Flagship.

The biggest insult of all with this game was the $150 "founders club" deal. What a fucking money grab. Pissed me (and a lot of other people) off to no end. Pick a fucking business model, not throw every half baked business model against a wall and see what sticks. I said this long before when this game was in beta (well since it launched in beta maybe I should say Alpha) but if Blizzard made its money and cut its teeth selling 50$ a pop pc games prior to their huge WOW success, then flagship can do the same thing before they try some bullshit like they did with hellgate. Make good games FIRST and establish a little credibility and then you can try some other business plans. However Roper in all his arrogance thought otherwise.

How smug and holier than thou you come across

You seem to need lots of ego boosting.

You've said that before, and unfortunately that doesn't make the game any better.

So I was sitting at my house one day, reading a book *nameless* and HGL just started itself, freaked as I was, I went downstairs grabbed my shotgun....and started letting off rounds into the side of my computer. Needless to say it solved my problem and created a new one. Now that my computer was fubar'd and my house burnt down from the impending electrical fires started by not unplugging anything. I was then a homeless, gameless, computerless and frustrated gamer, motivated by the situation I drove down to FSS and did the same to there studio, resulting in the patches with no fixes. But currently I'm holding the entire staff captive and forcing them to eat cheetos tell they puke and fix the damn game

Ripped from a happy Hellgate owners post.

When developers decide to remove the command that allows you to see how many players are currently online you know that the game is dying.

And you will notice that they took the /who command out JUST before this SP patch.

Why? Because at prime time Hellgate was barely hitting 2k players online (US Server) on the average. A good chuck of those 2k are non-sub/non-founder SP'ers who are only online to play Hellgate because the SP version (pre 1.2 patch) is so buggy.

With this patch a good chunk of non-sub SP'ers will probably go back to playing offline (less lag, better framerates, etc) leaving the servers with significantly less people (~ 1000-1500) online at prime time and making the online version of this game looking REALLY bad.

And the real kick in the nuts is that Flagship is going to make Shared Stash SUBSCRIBER only where games like Guild Wars and Titan Quest have this as a FREE CORE feature, once again Flagship going for the money grab...
