Hopefully, in the expansion...as many times as it's been brought up (lack of a story/campaign mode) I can't see them ignoring it...

The big disappointment that hurts this game is that they have an introductory movie where they hint at a bunch of historical events, but then they have no storyline camapaign at all to flesh them out.

"Did you say hurt this game??" more games would like to hurt like this dont you think??

I do hear ya though they could have put in a story mode, mabey next game but this one is good and im not complaining.

Now if Ironclad and Relic were to merge... *drools*

I was actually thinking if they merged Sins and GalCiv2, that would be sic.

Finally, I've been looking forward to this demo and was just at their site the other day as I knew it was coming out around a month after release.

As to Ghosts, thanks nin for bringing it to my attention. I love all the free songs and five bucks is a steal. Sold. Go Reznor.

"you want this game to be something its not. the game is perfect the way it is, you want complexity where there should be none.

or more to the point, you want homeworld 3 where there should be none. "

I think moving ships around would improve the game. I love it as is, but movement like in Homeworld woudl be good. I generally micromanage my caps in major battles quite a bit, so my ships are moving in any case, but I would still appreciate it.

The game isn't perfect. There's no such thing. For example, the engine is very nice, but the art direction for the ships could have been better (eg Relics Homeworld 2 ships still look better, though lower res textures.)

Again I LOVE Sins, and am working on some ships i want to mod into the game myself, but I would never say it's perfect. It's definately a good buy though. Now if Ironclad and Relic were to merge... *drools*

I'm a big fan of culture bombing other empires. I love how you can stack multiple boadcast towers at one planet. If the planet itself produced a lot of culture, you can cause rebellions all over the place >:)

Yeah, that's my main beef with the game. I mean Homeworld came out like freaking 10 years ago! It's a big deal considering combat (the game overall isn't very deep) is the only thing going for SoaSE.

Wait, this is an RTS not a TBS?

Now I'm kinda happy I haven't gotten around to buying it yet. I haven't enjoyed single-player RTS since Warcraft II, and even then I got tired of single-player very quickly.

yeh its RTS, but the pacing is glacial.. its more like TBS with an "automatic end-turn" .. id give it a shot, its lightyears away from a warcraft type experience

Go forth, and kill!

I forgot to mention, IronClad needs to allow ships to move around more in combat in all dimensions. Right now its put your ship facing the enemy and they stay there until one or more die. This gets REALLY OLD REALLY FAST!

I want to see ships weaving in and out, some misfires (random , collisions, use of all dimensions. It would be great if the ships acted like they had tactics, levels/skill or something.

Right now its face and fire.... yawn.

i agree with the above however with the mods I can see this happening, atm there is a script that allows the bombers and fighters that launch from the cap ships to weave in and out and all around, Now if this can be adapted to general flight dynamics then we can have that movement and the imersion factor would sky rocket for this game.

So heres hopeing a mod team gets on this.

You can play as many 90 minutes games as you like. The first two maps are easily small enough to be beaten in under that time. It's only the random medium map that I doubt can be completed in 90 minutes.

NIN sucks but nin is cool.

Surf, you're looking at both games in the wrong light. I've been in the beta for both games and they are both completely different from one another. In Homeworld, you are fleet command, concerned with only ONE fleet and a pretty rag tag one for quite a while.

In Sins, you're the God-Emperor. You develop planets, you manage an empire and you control many fleets. It is not your duty to determine the individual tactics of every single fleet, your job is to keep your race alive at the least and dominating the galaxy at best.

Sins and Homeworld (all 3) have equally warm and welcome places on my hard drive.

549mb is just about half the digital purchase. Do yourself a favour and just buy the damn game already.

And now offtopic..
Ghosts III and IV are my favourites. III is the most electronic\industrial sounding, while IV has imho the best tracks overall, specifically 1 and 7 (which also happen to be the longest). If you've ever worked with headphones on to Nin's Still, Quake 1 soundtrack (no track on Ghosts is quite this ambient though), or have had A Warm Place, Ripe (With Decay) or other instrumental tracks on repeat - you'll love all of it.

Hey nin, how are Ghosts II-IV? I downloaded vol I and liked it and I'm thinking of getting the others too. Is it more like vol I (atmospheric and ambient) or completely different?

Dude, for $5, it's kinda hard to lose.

There's no real order or genre to a given volume, per se (And one volume isn't drastically different than the next.). You might have a louder track followed by quieter one, followed by a something else.

I'd say if you liked the first volume and the fact that it didn't stick to a given sound or formula, you'll easily like the rest. I'm not about to say every song (or even the entire thing) is a masterpiece, but as a whole, I really like it.

And for $5 for flac files (or 320kbit mp3s), you can't go wrong.

(FYI) It will also be released in stores next month, as a double cd set.

edit: Overall, there's a very soundtrack-ish feel to it, and if you're in the mood for that type of music, it's very rewarding.

Any mirrors available for the demo?

I'm a little surprised it's not on the stardock client?
