Can you say 10' screen?

Yay for shitty quality picture.

While the size has a brief "oh cool" factor...the picture quality from projectors vs an HDTV, just isn't worth it.

So I'm guessing you'll get credit on Live the next time you connect, but any achievements you get while offline won't have a date listed on them...

10-4, that is exactly what happened. At least I got it!

I'm looking forward to this film. One of the rare films I'll actually go to the cinema to watch.

360 question -

If I hookup my 360 in an area without a internet connection (different room), and I get an achievement, do I keep that for when I get back online? Or do I have to work to get it again while I am online?

I'm pretty sure that, in the middle of the Live overload time around xmas, I got an achievement w/o being connected.

Looking at Mass Effect on my profile (while I listed in the guild board BTW) most of my achievements are listed with the date I got them, but I have at least a couple that just say "Acquired" w/o a date...

So I'm guessing you'll get credit on Live the next time you connect, but any achievements you get while offline won't have a date listed on them...

1. Dude, it wasn't my idea.

Where did I say it was?!

SSST

2. They're calling it a reboot, as changing the past will create a blank slate for the future.

Yeah, but still set them up for the stupid and silly writing. They could start "fresh" without doing this silly idea.

And this is all rumored. I've not read a script or anything (just stuff mentioned on Dark Horizons for the past year or so), and it's all subject to change.

edit: I still think it'll be good, and they needed a reboot, even if they chose to use the over-used TT angle to do so.

The advantage now is, with it delayed 5 months (and the writers strike over), they can rewrite/reshoot to their hearts content - and they're were grumblings previously that they'd like to rewrite a certain scene as they filmed it, but couldn't, due to the strike.

In responses to nins SSSTT:

If that is the case, it will not reboot the series. It is not starting from scratch. Time travel? Come on, that has always been the Star Trek way of not having to write a real plot. If it is true, it is the same ole' shit over again, and just will further degrade Star Trek.

Am I the only one that thinks there is something fishy going on here?

What, that our satellite just happened to fail hours after being placed into orbit at a time when we're testing out our anti-satellite tech? Nope, seems perfectly reasonable.. lol. To be fair, China did shoot down their satellite after our satellite went up and "failed"... although, I'm not sure if the news of the failure was made public until recently.. it's a conspiracy!

Maybe we don't really need to do this and the government sees it as a perfect cover for a real world test. Maybe there is something other than hydrazine on board. Or maybe it really is what they say it is. Who knows. I say let them get rid of a 5k pound object that might hit my house.

I ordered a game from gogamer and ended up with the Australian copy?

Yeah, probably had an (I) in the title when you ordered it and was $20.00 less than the same US title?

Which game? I have received a lot of games from them from different parts of the world. The only ones you have to worry about are ones like The Orange Box that have a practice of turning off accounts that are not region compliant.

A creative excuse to start from scratch, something Trek has needed for years now.

I agree. I've never been a big fan of Star Trek (seen plenty though), but I am interested to see what JJ Abrams does with this.

I liked Cloverfield, except for the shaky cam style. It was really hard to watch. The rest of it I thought worked out pretty well and I don't doubt JJ Abrams talent at all.

Here are more details on the satellite and how they might deal with it.

http://blog.wired.com/defense/2008/02/some-time-in-th.html

I guess they're mostly worried about the 1000 pounds of hydrazine on board.

Am I the only one that thinks there is something fishy going on here? I am surprised (not knowing much about these things) about the sheer size of the sat. 5,000 pounds! Wow.

Anyway. Hope the process is documented and released - maybe even some video at some point would be cool. I can imagine they have other sats that can take video of the explosion - or that amateurs will be watching it (hopefully recordings as well).

Why do they keep describing original series remakes as "reinventions"?

I seem to be a minority, but when I heard the new Star Trek is yet another representation of the original series, I was severely dissapointed.

Lets see something new set 100-500 years in the future, not original series rehash number 617,541.

From what I've heard, it's intended as a reboot of the series.

Secret text: The rumor was Romulans go back in time to murder Kirk. The film takes places in the past, and since changes will be made, it in turn nulls the "future" that we know.

A creative excuse to start from scratch, something Trek has needed for years now.

23. Matt Damon Does Matthew McConaughey Feb 14, 2008, 15:26 Cutter

After seeing the Al Pacino as - potentially - the next Blofeld, I thought of Frank Caliendo and started watching some of his Pacino impersonations on Youtube. For those who've never seen him do it, you're missing out - super funny stuff. http://youtube.com/watch?v=yZ5DK_CU-tY&feature=related

Anyway, I came across a clip of Matt Damon on Letterman doing his old buddy McConaughey. Funny stuff indeed!
