Out of the Blue

So I see a TV commercial for a sugar-sweetened breakfast cereal saying a study demonstrated that kids eating it had demonstrably better academic performance than those who didn't. In the DVR era, however, it doesn't matter how quickly you flash you small print on the screen, and going back I was able to see this miracle is achieved by comparing the cereal-fuelled children's performance versus kids who had nothing for breakfast. Yes, our standards for nutrition and honesty have fallen to the point where they brag about the fact that their cereal is actually food.

Nutritious Links: Thanks Ant and Mike Martinez.

Me too. Let's not forget 2001, 2010, plus SeaQuest.

AMC recently played 2010. I had forgotten how good the movie was.

While I'm not putting words in Telegraph's mouth their article suggests Shatner hated Star Trek. Johnny Depp said the same about his films. This doesn't mean that both actors didn't enjoy the material. It just means they don't like to watch themselves on screen. If nothing else I call that humility.

Anyways, nice pics, reminds me of a the way a snake is able to swallow masses much larger than itself by disjointing it's jaws, although this just seems to be a case of having a flexible throat.

I'll avoid the obvious ex-girlfriend jokes for now.

That is amazing - I would LOVE to see video of that.

Having caught many Pike, they are ferocious....so it is amazing that it could be defeated like that. I wonder if it ate a hole in the bird's tummy. hehehhehehe thx.

I'm skeptical too. I think it should read:

He never watched himself on Star Trek or Boston Legal.
The only performance I would want him to watch would be his rendition of 'Rocket Man' just so he could feel the torture he gave to us.

Is that the same New England?

Unless Massachusetts somehow entered an alternate dimension briefly, then yes, I'm afraid it is.

Last night - a bit snowy, not too bad though.

This late morning/early afternoon - thunder and a bit of rain, but warmer... snow's mostly settled if not melting away.

Decide to go to Watertown and Arsenal malls to check out DVD deals, if any...

In the span of ten minutes, while out until about 15 minutes ago...

1. Turn into Watertown Mall parking lot - sunny, not too cold, felt like it was in the mid-40s (F) - proceed to go into mall, look around, etc. (It's a tiny mall, really.)

2. Get back to car, turn out of the parking lot to head toward Arsenal mall across the street - overcast, flakes start falling.

3. Park, open door at Arsenal - VERY windy, with heavy snowfall. Get Casshern DVD, head back to car.

4. Close car door, head back home (less than 5 min away). Not even 1/4 of the way there the snow stops, all is sunny again and (relatively) warm.

Granted, I live in New England... but WTF?

Yeah WTF. Is that the same New England? Today? Was sunny and nice most of the day in Providence, in and out of clouds, but nothing major.

Nothing major for the week upcoming, but we're going to have to cancel another star party due to weather, and we haven't been to the observatory on a Saturday or Tuesday in weeks (since New Year's I think). I'm ready for winter to end.

I swear, the longer I live here, the more I swear I recognize that the weather patterns are more random MORE frequently (and thus, more chaotic??). Maybe it's just me.

It's very well done. And its compelling enough that it had me playing to the end.

Funny thing, I was thinking the same thing about Crysis yesterday. I'm about 3/4 finished, and I'm having a blast. I love having a weapon that I can use as either run-and-gun or sniping.

Edit: OK, I *was* having fun, but this constant barrage of aliens is getting kind of old. Wave after wave of aliens while you're basically in the same spot for 20 minutes really isn't that much fun...

Yeah well, you have people trying to make so much money off of what they describe as health food; which is just another joke.

The healthiest thing you can do for your body is eat.

I just finished COD4 and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Psychonauts is another one that I just finished that I also played all the way through.

beautiful in that every city looks the exact same?

ok course all games are repetitive, but creed is the worst offender. Climb the towers 120 times, pickpocket 40 times, follow and beat up a guy 40 times, sit on a bench and listen to people 40 times. It's horrible.

And the story, or lack thereof, is junk. Just wait until you get to the end. Brutal.
