The folks that really annoy me are the Barbara Streisands and Al Gores of this world.
I'm sure I don't have to go through all the photos of their palatial mansions and discuss their private jet flights, etc, to expose their hypocrisy.
It's good business to them, not the truth to be followed.
Now these points of data make a beautiful line And we’re out of beta, we’re releasing on time So I’m GLaD I got burned, think of all the things we learned For the people who are still alive |

Which side of the equation do you want to come down on? The side that does not support bad science, regardless of if it is right or wrong. Supporting bad science just sets up the human race for further failure.
And you point out like a robot, oil companies bad, they fund people that do not completely agree with global warming. You also ignore the fact that they put more funding into alternative energy resources then anybody else in the world. And they continue to fund research in all areas, even people who say global warming is happening keep getting funding from oil companies for research in various fields. You also ignore the multi-billion dollar a year industry for anti-global warming that is not doing anything to prevent global warming, just make money and put out more pollution. But they are good, oil companies are bad.

Holy shitballs! It's only the OVERWHELMING consensus of the scientific community that says global warming is both real and a problem. Climatoligists, biologists, chemists, et al. of every scientific association on the planet are saying it's a problem. And a handful of proven corporate hacks of big oil/industry saying it's not. Where do you REALLY want to hedge your bets?
If the the vast majority are wrong, no worries. If they're right, all life is doomed as we know it. Are you really willing to take the chance? Condemn your children to to misery? Well, best of luck to you in that case.
Even if the tree huggers are wrong you end up with a cleaner, healthier planet. If they're right...we're all doomed. Which side of the equation do you want to come down on?

There's no general consensus. And thus, I’m not sold. There IS a consensus, but you have to filter out the junk science in non-scholarly journals and the advertisements for sensationalist books.
The only rebuttals I've seen about him have been ad hominem. Science is not disqualified just because of who's paying for the grad students.
He didn't get to be a professor at MIT by being a wack job. Science has to be answered by science, not by changing the subject about funding. Questioning a scientist's sources of funding is not an ad hominem attack, and is entirely relevant. Pharmaceutical studies, for example, have exhaustive lists of funding sources. Are you suggesting that they are attacking themselves by including these?
As for volcanoes as a source of CO2, yes, but the difference is that a volcano doesn't erupt all day, every day for decades the way that a factory or power plant does (except for, say, Hawaiian volcanoes, but those erupt at a slow rate and mostly just spew lava instead of gas). The aggregate emissions from human sources vastly outweigh volcanic sources.

WOot. The Target by me as the 175w 360. They have a promo right now that gives you a free game: NCAA 08 Madden 08 Tony Hawk's newest
They didn't have any Tony Hawk - the game I would play the most and have enjoyed the series in the past, so I will hit up another store to see if they have it - can do the switcheroo if I have to. Schweet. Maybe I will be rocking soft porn Mass Effect by this weekend. Just have to figure out the correct resolution for my monitor - looks like no 1680x1050 support? bummer.

No, it's CO(subscript)2, tard You typed: C(the number zero)2. The character was not the letter O, but the number 0.

no im sure dumping ludicrously large amounts of C02 into the atmosphere can have nothing but a positive impact on the world. It makes total sense, after all.
There is no such thing as C02, tard. It is CO2. heh

Yeah, that's why volcanic eruptions really suck. So much CO2 gets released.

I'll help him out:
Here's a professor at that little university in Cambridge. What was it called again... MIT? Who's ever heard of that?

You're a good guy, Bronco - - I'm sure you'll get something out of it someday.
My wife's boss calls me once a year to de-fuxxor his computer, and I get a round of golf at the local country club (something I'll probably never be able to afford).

I somehow doubt my turning off my PC will have the effect of say expanding nuclear or solar power.
Cars, that's simple: make them all electric. I doubt we have *that* long to go before they are. If oil barons resist I'm sure the public will eventually win out.
Anyways all the energy is there, it's in the ocean it's in the air and it's in the sunlight. Nobody has really shown the initiative to harness it on a realistic scale, though. All we have are these micro-experiments.
I don't think the billionaires of the nation are going to just throw their money toward creating a better living condition for all: that's totally against the republican way. It's gonna take a federal push from some kind of whacko liberal Washington higher-ups to seriously get the ball rolling. |
