I thought the game looked good, showing a lot of promise, and this comes from someone who HATES the modern C&C games (almost exclusively because of the overly zoomed in camera).

A lot of us ARE old men when it comes to video games. I'm only a mere 23 years old, but 15-16 of those years has been spent playing quite a few computer games (and mostly computer games). I feel like I can be a cranky asshole about things once in a while, especially toward this new-fangled "trendiness" in video games.

45. Geoff Keighley Jan 28, 2008, 13:12 wolve

I haven't seen the first ep of the new Gametrailers TV show (formely Gamehead), so I won't comment too much on it. Suffice to say, it's produced by MTV and airs on Spike so of course the show is going to cater to the lowest common denominator. I doubt it's worse than the crap on G4.

In terms of all the bashing on the main host, Geoff Keighley, I argue he's a better game journalist than most of the "wannabes" out there. He had the balls to recently defend Mass Effect on a story Fox News aired where they trashed the game as being digital porn. A while back, he also wrote the Behind the Games articles on Gamespot (http://www.gamespot.com/features/btg/). BTW, there's an extensive list of works on his site (http://www.gameslice.com).

Blues is full of Gaming fans of all stripes. I don't own a console because I primarily play FPS's and RTS's, both genre's which are superior on the PC.
I'd really like to get a PS2 and catch up on some gems I missed, like God of War and Ratchet and Clank. Maybe one day.
For the time being, I'm content to get good games on the PC regardless of where they originated. Sure, I lament the fact that certain games (Oblivion, GTA, Halo) could have been so much better had they been designed for the PC first, but a good game is still a good game.

Bluesnews ain't no retirement home people here seem to really give a damn about games and you generally get thought out opinions here not like the garbage comments you get on the shit hole which is kotaku where they have news items such as "knitted mario" I swear that site is just a bunch of fanbois stroking their egos.

Anyway I'm 26 grew up with computers not consoles, spectrum, amiga then pc. Its very easy to rebel against all the shit out there at the moment and it has nothing to do with age its all about education.

Thank god blues news isn't full of console fans, when that time comes I shall leave forever!

Oh gosh guys, I don't mean to tick anyone off...not implying anything, and what's wrong with being old!?!

You didnt tick me off:D

When you get older "Im 46" you see things differently and the BS matters much less than when the testosterone was flowing like a river.

I don't know why, but it's really easy for me to picture all of these comments being made around a television at an old folks home.

Hey I resemble that remark!

Ive been coming here since Blue opened the site way back when and this is still the best place for news on the net.

are you implying that wanting a little originality is somehow being behind the times?

Sorry but the Game Trailer broadcast was pure, overproduced, overly slick, unoriginal garbage.

That could be because this is a site for more "refined" or "hard core" gamers. Still, don't forget the target demographic for games in general, and that this whole "gaming culture" crap is what sells the games. Maybe not to you and me, but to the masses, and that's who pays the bills.

As a gamer in his mid-thirties...yeah, I could do without it. I can't stand the BS you have to go through to watch a football game on TV, but it's there too; the lowest common denominator for the masses.

36. Meh! Jan 28, 2008, 07:32 Bilbo

This looks like a piece of poo or a bag of wank, whatever you want! Console shooters have and always will suck ass, I really hate this consoles getting massive at the moment as every single game has devloved and us the PC gamers who have grown up with evolution in gaming have to go back in time again it stinks!
Bring me new ideas and non console games, purely developed pc games are always 100x deeper and involving than a console game.

The game might be good if it doesn't turn into a run and gun piece of shit. After seeing how it plays (right now, anyway), it kinda looks like that's what it might be, since there's no crosshair, no iron sight/zoom, and no prone. Unless there's something original in it, then I think I've circle-strafed enough. If you're going to make a squad-based game, it can't play like fucking Quake.

As someone who enjoyed the hell out of Renegade's SP, I am extremely excited about Tiberium. Yeah, the whole "games are hip and so are we" thing is lame, but I was too busy looking at the games.

I only saw 20 seconds of actual in-game footage because I wasn't about to torture myself with that inane shit. Is that what corporate advertising suits think gamers like? That was just insultingly awful. Hell, I even feel guilty about giving them an extra $0.02 in ad revenue by visiting that shit.

As for the game itself: if I could go back in time and show it to myself in 2002, I'd shit my pants in excitement. But at this point it looks lame and washed out. I hate the brown/green/grey/dull gold colors that define the Tiberium C&C universe. Makes everything look the fucking same, as in unoriginal sci-fi garbage.

Whats worse is it had no fadeouts or anything so when you first see tibirium it just sort of ends and then some other shit comes on.

I'm sick of all of these goofy, happy, bubbly trendy cocksuckers talking about video games

Thank you.

Game Trailers built themselves a nice little niche and when they finally secure the wherewithal to do a full-blown show what do they do? They go the MTV-fast-cut-scene-dual-shaky/static-cam shit with some slick chatterbox with an over-modulated voice left over from his college radio stint. It's so sickening and generic that I wanted to punch my PC. The biggest aggravation was the 20 minute tease of he Tiberium interview. The rest of the segments for other games were simply shallow, non-offensive corporate cock sucking in what was clearly a ploy for securing future advertising bux.

The absolute worst part though is when the shithead host has a chance to ask some questions about what sounded like an interesting dynamic sound solution for the game. Instead of stepping up to the plate, shithead gets into some inane cutesey banter that he insisted on pursuing much to the clear chagrin of the sound guy. It was everything that is wrong with these types of shows.

So once again lets hear it for pretty, feel-good stories over interesting and informative content. I'm sure it will prosper given the amount of brain-dead sheep who line up for this kind of MTV-inspired shiite.

Re: Tiberium - Nothing like Renegade that I can see (though you'd never know because the shithead broached the question and then never let the guy answer it fully). Looks more like Star Wars: Republic Commando with a morphing weapon (unfortunately only 4 configurations for you weapon ho's. like me). Multiplayer is promised with your AI squad along for the ride so that may be the games' saving grace.
