A new patch is now available for World of Warcraft, coincidental with
this Blizzard Press Release
announcing that World of Warcraft now has 10 million active subscribers
worldwide. As there are always quibbles about what that means, here's their
definition: "World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a
subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as
well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of
access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last
thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all
players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled
subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees' territories
are defined along the same rules." As for the patch, a new version 2.3.3 update
is now available, though
the Current Patch WoW Notes list the current version as 2.3.2 and the 2.3.3
patch notes are on the
test realm page, so this new version may not actually be live yet. Downloads
of the US/Aus manual version 2.3.3 client patch are available from
ActionTrip,
AtomicGamer,
FanGaming,
FileFront, Gamer's Hell,
Games32, The
Patches Scrolls, and
Strategy Informer. Various other language editions of the patch are on
ActionTrip,
AtomicGamer, Gamer's
Hell,
Games32, and
The Patches Scrolls. I hope it goes without saying that you should probably
not patch your client until you are sure your server is running the new version.

10 Million X $15 per month X all the time that WoW has been a game =
A Vast Majority of Gamers out there are absolute morons. I've never paid more than $50 for a game ever. These idiot clowns have paid hundreds & hundreds of dollars...
It would be about the same if people paid to watch LOST on the big screen & paid just $5 an episode. That would be a $570 movie!!!
The problem with it is that it sets a precedent that people are willing to pay more. So then you get World of Diablo, World of Starcrap, World of Sims, World of Conan, World of, World of, World of... and all of them costing hundreds & hundreds of dollars to keep playing over the years. Whereas a person who enjoys Call of Duty series or whatever pays a 1-time fee just as they should.
The level of moronic stupidity in the gaming industry is so monumental that its quite possible that we could prove that computers are making people dumber & we're devolving. No one knows how to even spell anymore. "Your all teh bunch of loosers..."
The same is true of Steam. When Valve announced it you guys were like all saying, Valve is going to reduce the price of games, they've been great supporters of the community. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah! My response was always, "Never underestimate corporate greed". And now today, they're charging $10 for Quake 1, $50 for the OrangeBox; which isn't a bad deal, but it would have been & is $50 at the retail store too. There is no savings off not making CDs, documentation, boxes, and ditching the publisher. All that money goes straight into their fat, greedy, little pockets.
Every single WoW subscriber is helping make Blizzard more rich. The game is a soul-vacuum and in the end when all the money is spent, none of you will have anything at all from it except wasted time. You truly are a bunch of losers.
