Yeah put me down as not happy either. I've only just upgraded and yet I can barely get Crysis playable on medium settings. Ok sure I was on a budget with my upgrade yet I still have some pretty decent hardware and almost without exception every other game out I can run at least high if not max with good performance.
The other problem is once you've seen Crysis on high you really don't want to drop back down to medium because the difference between those 2 settings is huge, especially in terms of lighting.
So for me Crysis is a no go until my next upgrade which wont be for at least another 12 months.

So you get 25-30fps and are happy with the performance? I mean it's great that you have such low standards that a terribly optimised game can satisfy them but to most others that is completely unacceptable. When I can't get smooth gameplay in medium with an 8800GT and C2D @ 3.3Ghz then I think it is unacceptable. UT3, The Witcher, Team Fortress 2, etc, all run amazingly and yet Crysis is barely playable.
I've been looking at the benchmarks posted in that topic and people are getting 30fps in high detail at 1680x1050 with an 8800GTX, with similarly appalling results with dual 8800Ultras. I think the worst thing is the cheek of the developers to say that they were happy with the performance but that if they could change one thing it would be to call Medium "High, to call High "Ultra" and to add a new top setting. Dickheads.
Honestly, this game is just a joke.

Maybe it's just this game...but it's a little depressing that now we're talking about what is broken in patches. Forget the problems the game has, we're just trying to get a working patch now...

Who ever decided it was a good idea to need the dvd in the drive and check every installed file needs to be kicked. It was probably the idiots at EA more than likely.
I shouldn't have had to do a repair on my Crysis install to install the patch. It's not like I had a modified version of Crysis. Ugh.
Very lame indeed.

In my case, the biggest boost I got in crysis under vista 64bit was buy upgrading from 2gb to 4gb of ram. Upgrade was done after the patch came. Patch gave me 5 to 10 FPS & less slowdowns but the ram gave me 10 to 15 FPS. (the patch helped probably make better use of the extra mem)
I'll try readyboost on top of that (hope my drive is compatible to see if I can squeeze more fps.

considering the flak they got from pulling the farcry patch, I understand them not pulling this one.
Although you would think that they had created a QA department after the many farcry incidents, I guess not. |

so rather than pulling the patch and reworking it they offer 3rd party workarounds.
