Glad to see you popping in again!
I'm always here, I've just become a bit of a lurker I'm afraid! Been super busy at my new job, especially in the last 6 weeks or so. Glad to hear the new place is working out well.

My opinion is that iPods are good provided you steer clear of the hard disk models - every HD model I have had has broken within a year or so, whereas the flash ones keep going.

Having dropped out of the loop here a bit, have you successfully moved into the new place yet?

I feel the same way about the iPods - a friend told me to get the 80GB one and I told him that I wasn't going for any portable music device that's HD based. My wife and I were playing around with her Shuffle last night a bit so we are starting to get used to the iTunes interface.

We moved in the first week of August and the place is coming around. Even then there were a few minor projects for the builder and subs to finish up, but I think those are all complete now. Not much left to do on the inside except cleaning up a few boxes of paperwork in the den (organizing, filing, shredding) and finish organizing the garage. That will wait until Christmas decorations are taken down, though, as I want to get all that put away first. The next "big" project is sprinklers and grass this spring. Thanks for asking.

Glad to see you popping in again!

I got an iPod Nano from the in-laws, but think I'll take it back to get the 8GB version
I bought myself one of those as a birthday present to myself (always the best sort!). I was sorely tempted by the iTouch but it was £100 more for wireless internet and a screen I'd probably break while out running or in the gym. My opinion is that iPods are good provided you steer clear of the hard disk models - every HD model I have had has broken within a year or so, whereas the flash ones keep going.

Glad the wife's feeling better Hawk, here's to a full and speedy recovery. Having dropped out of the loop here a bit, have you successfully moved into the new place yet? Hope it's as good as it looked in your blog.

Merry Christmas / equivalent holiday to all.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone! She'll be fine. Sounds like she's doing somewhat OK, she's planning a trip to Talbots tomorrow with her mom and g-ma.

Again, Merry Christmas to all! Question: if you don't celebrate Christmas, do you still get the sale price when you shop this time of year?

I got an iPod Nano from the in-laws, but think I'll take it back to get the 8GB version (I got the 4 - not complaining, just rather spend the $50 for twice the capacity). Not telling them, and they will never know. Managed to discreetly/indirectly find out they got it at Best Buy, so no worries. My wife, who actually wanted an iPod more than I did, got a Shuffle and I think was a little irritated that mine was fancier. I think that's why you need to be very specific with what you want - you get a little wishy-washy and it comes back to bite you! But she always gets much more in the way of gifts than I do, so she can just deal with it.

Also got a few movies, clothes, some other misc goodies. Also got this very cool book from my wife:

I'm going to try to make an early shopping start then go to work for a few hours and get some things done. Should be nice and quiet at the office with everyone pretty much out for the week. May go in to work Wednesday instead, but we'll see.
