New NVIDIA ForceWare Drivers

NVIDIA now offers new version 169.21 WHQL-certified ForceWare reference drivers for GeForce accelerators (thanks mtnlover). There is a new driver for Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center Edition and Windows XP x64, Server 2003 x64. The new drivers add support for GeForce 8800 GTS 512 GPU and the usual "numerous game and application compatibility fixes."

But are they better than the 163.75 release set?

These improved or changed from the 169.21 BETA drivers?

There are no differences between nvidia beta and WHQL drivers with the same version number, except that one of them are obviously WHQLed.

Probably not. They likely just went from being called 'beta' to being WHQL certified.

If you have XP use driver sweeper and clean out the old drivers then install.

In XP these aren't as good as 169.09 for me in most games. Dont know about vista itsstill collecting dust on the self waiting for SP1 or a game that really needs DX10.

No. God no! You do not want to auto-update new drivers. Yes you want to keep your drivers up-to date, but auto updating drivers like this (with new versions so often) is just asking for trouble!

When will the drivers be able to auto-update themselves? Everything else on the PC does it, why not the drivers? If possible even without rebooting since the drivers can be un/reloaded on the fly...
