Out of the Blue

MrsBlue and I were shedding our coats and such last night after returning from picking her up at the train station when we heard an odd noise from the living room. Upon investigating, we found Hudson the wonder dog licking at a bowl of M&Ms I had indiscriminately left on the coffee table. She's usually pretty good about avoiding such temptations, but as we've discovered on a couple of previous occasions, our Airedale has a weakness for chocolate, which is scary, since chocolate is poisonous to dogs. Luckily the amount of cocoa in an M&M is low enough that she could probably stomach a couple (not that I'm eager to test this), but even more luckily, a dog trying to discreetly pluck peanut M&Ms from a small bowl with a mouthful of giant fangs is trying to pull off a tough trick (picture Winona Ryder in that Aliens movie trying to pick up a shot glass wearing boxing gloves), so she could only manage to lick some candy coating before being caught in the act. So in the end, she didn't make herself sick, all she did was manage to ruin a bowl of M&Ms… oh, who am I kidding? I ate them.

and speaking of, does anyone have any good experiences with digital cameras? the one i have is about to bite the dust and i've been pricing a few. the one i like so far is the EOS Digital Rebel XT, but i'm open to suggestions if anyone has any compelling arguments.

I don't know anything about cameras but I work with a guy that is a camera nut and he swears the Canon 40D is the best camera ever made. And from some of his pictures I would have to agree.

9. Chocolate Dec 19, 2007, 11:51 Ratty

I find it hard to believe chocolate is so deadly to dogs. I only just heard of this recently. Dogs have such a sweet tooth and such a penchant for getting into people food--wouldn't there be, like, dead dogs lying everywhere if chocolate was so poisonous? We'd have to step over their cute, furry little bodies everywhere we went, seems like. I've never heard of a dog dying from chocolate. Good thing I don't have a dog I guess. I give my cat some of everything I eat, including licking the ice cream from the bottom of the bowl. I can really see doing that with a dog .. chocolate ice cream too!

I ordered CoD4 from gogamer for 30.00 the other day, have a Best Buy 50.00 gift card burning up my wallet....I think I will go grab Crysis at lunch today.....

I haven't pulled the trigger on the monitor yet, I was looking at Cabela's (I hate that over priced store) is one of the stores I can use the card at, and I was thinking about getting the pups training collars....about the same price as the monitor! So it would be a better use of the money to get the collars......considering we have 3 19inch flat panel monitors and only 2 computers running ATM.

/edit: Glad you have power back nin. I would go batshit insane not having power for 9 days.

glad to see that you'll be getting back to a normal life again nin.

uh, i think it was Bats yesterday posting prices for the widescreen. you suck bats. now i'm off during lunch to go buy a new monitor to replace the very good flat panel (non-widescreen) monitor i have. i hate being a consumer.

"i bet no one was expecting this to happen"

Except, perhaps the "surprised couple." They need to keep their day jobs, as that was some pretty hammy acting.

Though I did like the sound of the record scratch... wonder if that was played off a CD?

Thank you all for the well wishes and putting up with my whining...

It was very exciting to stop by the house this morning and discover the inside temp had risen from 46 to 66.

Gotta go bail the cat out from the vet this afternoon...

Honestly, it's like xmas a week early.
