The next time someone asks you if you're a god, SAY YES!
I can't wait for this game. It'll definitely be better than the NES version I used to play.

I too played the C64 game and love it. Was a little repetitive but weren't they all back then?
This could potentially be Ghostbusters 3. I know Aykroyd was pitching the story around for a while but Bill Murray wouldn't sign on. I heard somewhere that it eventually got retooled and became that movie Evolution with David Duchovny and Orlando Jones. Not sure about that. One thing about that movie though, the two leads had the same chemistry that Murray, Aykroyd and Ramis had in Ghostbusters or Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines had in Running Scared. I love shit like that; you can see they're just having a damn good time, ya know?

Actually, that cartoon with the ape was based off a live-action series from the 1970s
Huh. That makes two things about Ghostbusters I've learned here today.

Just don't see this transitioning well to a game, unless its a lot darker than the movies which where really comedy's at heart.

I do remember the atrocity that was the cartoon with the ape, that had fuck-all to do with Ghostbusters but somehow carried the same name. Actually, that cartoon with the ape was based off a live-action series from the 1970s, whereas the "Ghostbusters" that we all know and love was based on the movie that started off in 1984... *shrug* I have to admit, however, that I liked both cartoon series, at least initially, for different reasons, though the Filmation Ghostbusters wore out its welcome a lot sooner with too much silliness.
Now, if someone would make a parody vid of that Filmation "masterpiece" to a disco-fied girly rock tune much like what was done with He-Man (see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fy6faAgrLg4 ), then I'll be all set.
All that being said, this project sounds promising, and I hope it does well.

The potential is definitely there, but we all know too well what happens with most IP/Movie/Book games. Seeing as it's the original crew involved in a lot of aspects, i'll give them the benefit of the doubt. And yeah, Blue, Ernie Hudson definitely deserves to be in it! I love the Ern-man! He ruled in The Crow.

No, I had no idea the IP was still breathing. I do remember the atrocity that was the cartoon with the ape, that had fuck-all to do with Ghostbusters but somehow carried the same name. Sort of like Highlander 2 and Galactica 1980.
Yes, I'll have myself flogged for mentioning those two. Sorry.

Commodore 64 game |

Did anyone play the Commodore 64 Ghostbusters game? I thought it sucked at first but it was kind of fun once the game got going.
On Bones yesterday they had a geek get murdered in 1987 over a 1987 video game that would have had all the bells and whistles of Doom on a Commodore 64. Pretty laughable really. Probably the Commodore 64 killed him for trying to run a game like that on it.

What are you supposed to be, some kind of a cosmonaut? No, we're exterminators. Someone saw a cockroach up on twelve.
The good news is Aykroyd and Ramis are writing it, so it has a better chance of not sucking in the story department. The bad news is writing doesn't make a good game; it makes a great book. If the developers have an ounce of smarts, they'll utilized Valve's cabal process and turn out a smoking game.

I guess you never had to sit through the "Real Ghostbusters" cartoons etc for the last few years.
Tarnishing the memory of the first film began with the second - and since then barely a year has gone by without them flogging the (un)dead horse in someway or another.
I'm damn sure if I checked my kids rooms I'd find a mcdonald's or burger king ghostbuster toy from fairly recently!
