Battlefield 2142 Patch

The Battlefield Website offers the finalized version 1.40 patch for Battlefield 2142, now out of beta, also offering the first non-beta release of the Highway Tampa map that's now in Battlefield 2. Daredevils with the last version 1.40 beta are already set, as that release candidate was elected with nary a hanging chad, and is fully compatible with version 1.40 servers. Additional mirrors of the client patch can be found on 4Players.de, ActionTrip, FileFront, FileShack, Gamer's Hell, Internode Games Network, and The Patches Scrolls. Update: The Windows and Linux server are now also available on FileFront, Gamer's Hell, and The Patches Scrolls.

Still the best multiplayer shooter out there by far. Anyone who has not played it yet is missing out...

you obviously never tried the beta. nobody plays the tampa map because it crashes the server every other round. even the last october release, which they say is virtually the same as the final build, also does the same thing. they never even addressed the problem. six months of testing and the guys still have no clue what causes the crash?

I got it off FileFront. It downloaded fine but when I try and run the patch it thinks for a second and then quits.

Downloaded the patch from Fileplanet and the installer says it's version 1.25, but ingame says 1.40. Can't play on any servers. Bleh. 6 months of beta and we should know how they never even test the installers.

Only thing this game needs now is a fresh influx of maps. And not the booster kits, I'm talking maps that everyone can use.

FINALLY kit customization autosaves, something that should've been in from day 1.

Trashing vehicles with pods was, I thought, one of the more fun and innovative features in BF2142. Although I don't agree that pod surfing is not an exploit, it's sad to see how far podding has fallen since the early days. I don't even think you can kill tanks with it at all now. Pod surfing, though, was a pretty major exploit--although I hope I still have enough control to smash pod camping infantry without just being a sitting duck. Although, there is the legitimate complaint that it's often impossible to properly destroy the pod beacon when it's atop a titan, and so if you want to stem the tide of invaders there's little to do but podcamp.

zirik the game is only a year old. Look at Half Life and Counter Strike - those games are much older and lots of people play them. I like 2142 more than those games, too.

I'm grateful for this patch. 2142 is a great game. Been playing Cod4 and hope to be playing UT3 and Crysis online this winter but hope to go back to 2142 when time permits. Some additional patches and feature additions would be **very** welcome. Hell, I would like to see the game open sourced like id did with the Quake and doom games.

The 1.40 patch I downloaded from filefront didn't work. Trying FileShack now.
