New Classic DOOM 3

The Classic Doom for Doom 3 Website now offers a new version 1.3.1 of this modification that uses DOOM 3 to recreate the old school experience of DOOM. This new "final" edition of the mod is to address compatibility issues with the most recent DOOM 3 patch. Thanks Ant and LinuxGames.

I had taken a bunch of screenshots from this mod back when I ran FileFront's DOOM 3 Files -- Great website by the way, in its heyday at least.

Anyways, you may glance at them down here:

You might also find these files interesting, especially if you don't intend to play it:

I also played this mod when it was only the first few maps and was also very impressed. I just wish I had an available gaming PC to play it on atm.

DooM 3 did not require any emergent gameplay as it was homage to DooM and DooM 2 imho. I bought it, I played it, I enjoyed it and RoE in spite of the flashlight thing and the monster closets.

I haven't tried it, but it's a neat idea. There don't seem to be any screenshots on the webpage so I'd like to know if it's modern-looking versions of the original levels or just the original levels as they were?

The only trouble I can see with this is that you can actually beat each episode of Doom in about a half-an-hour or less if you know what you're doing. After god knows how many hours of deathmatch, I still know all of those levels pretty damn well.

Could be great fun for multiplayer though. I would love a version of Doom2 Map01 or Map07. In my opinion, the maps in Doom2 were better for deathmatches.

Unfortunately, I don't know if I even have Doom3 anymore. I may have given it away some time ago. I hope not.

Elf we've been bashing Doom 3 scince it's release. Graphically it was really cool and awesome for it's time but yet again was another id tech demo with no substantial gameplay to it.

Bashing Doom 3 is just so trendy and cool, isn't it?

I played this back a couple of years ago when they started it. Was the only thing about Doom 3 that I liked. Actually, had it been inside the finished retail Doom 3 box when I bought it, I actually would have kept the game installed.

that mod was ten times better then the actual game.

Yes it is. They are doing a fine job IMHO, I just played through the first couple of levels and I'm genuinely impressed . These folks have put a lot of effort into this mod.

I'm a bit confused and their website is pretty vague. Is this a port of the Doom1 maps to Doom3, or what is it exactly?
