I didn't realize it until the stitches were removed from my mouth, but the most unpleasant part of my recent episode that entailed a toothache, a root canal, and oral surgery was actually the sutures. They didn't so much hurt, but they were decidedly uncomfortable, and, more significantly, gave me this subconscious fear that I would do something to tear them. I have a couple of weeks before I get to undergo another awful dental procedure, so I'll work on forgetting all these details in the meantime.
