Well, I think this is a more impressive engine that Doom 3 was for its time. However, the physics (of the buggy) are still way off, the rockface looks a bit shiny/glossy from a distance and it remains to be seen whether lip sync / character models are as realistic as Half-Life 2 (though they're certainly more detailed, like the reflections on the teeth). Even Crysis, as impressive as it is, doesn't have realstic character movement / lip sync and it doesn't look as good as HL2. This is the most promising engine from id in years but they need to put a lot of focus into gameplay and plotline. id has yet to produce a good singleplayer game; they tend to produce arcadey killing simulators - there's no point putting time into singleplayer when it plays on par with bots in deathmatch.
