Macbook Pro's have dual core intels, 2GB RAM, and GF8600M (between 7600gt and 7900gs performance wise). Yeh, I picked one up last month. My PC was dead and I was so tired if trying to figure out what was wrong with it, so I decided to just get a new one and felt like getting Laptop this time around. Eventually I'll try reviving the busted PC or just give the working parts to my brother.
My PC's video card was fried and the PCI Express port on my motherboard was dead. Either the motherboard was defective and fried the VC, the video card was defective and fried the MB, the power supply fried them both, or a surge went through the monitor and fried them both.
The MacBook Pro is a decent machine. 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB of Ram, GeForce 8600M w/ 256MB. I threw Windows XP on a 20GB partition just for a handful of games, and so far Half-Life 2 runs great. I'll probably try more later on. But I'm just about done w/ gaming on my computer anyway. The only thing on the horizon I need is StarCraft 2, the rest can go on my Wii or 360.

As opposed to the laser-like precision of the "Mac vs. PC" ads. Yea you show that faceless marketing agency by... posting things on a forum!

apple should stop the practice of having a custom rom chip on their video cards. that is the biggest setback for mac gaming. people want to be able to upgrade their video card for gaming. Totally agree. They seem to have cleared out their inventory of x1900s though (showing 7-10 weeks for delivery now vs. 1-2 days previously), so I suspect we'll see a refresh of the Mac Pros pretty soon with 8000-series nVidias in them.

You kids do realize that the XBox 360 runs on PowerPC architecture, don't you? Sort of. It runs on custom designed silicon based off the principles of the PowerPC architecture. It is not, however, a direct descendant of PPC.

If it won't run on an iphone then they don't want it
And since it's XP and Vista why would you get the Vista version? It's gonna run worse and you won't see any noticeable gain in performance.

Mac Pro's can have two quad core processors and Radeon x1900. Something tells me Gears will run on Apple's.

what Mac can run Gears? Even if you have say... a nice power mac you still probably have a craptastic GeForce 7300. I don't see that running Gears... at least not while having it look anything like the 360 version.

I am interested in this version, to compare it to the Direct X 10 PC version. Unless its some perverted hybrid port it should be using OpenGL to render.

I'm sorry, I can't play the mac version of Gears of War, I'm too busy being an elitist asshole and making lame analogies equating PCs to John Hodgeman.
