Half-Life 2 Insurgency

The Insurgency Website now offers beta version 1.1 patch for this Half-Life 2 modification. What was originally planned as a quick hotfix ended up being a more extensive patch, adding new features and tweaks as well as bug fixes. Thanks Ant.

It's a nice blend between all out simulator and classic fps (arcade style). It doesn't deal with every little detail, but does enough for you to take into consideration your actions.

Is there somebody around that corner? Can I make it across this road and take cover before the sniper takes me out? How many people are still alive in my squad and are they watching my back? Where is the next objective?

People just need to take a minute and read the manual, nobody appears to be doing so and just jumping into the game and asking the same questions over and over.

Anyway good to see them releasing updates already, sign of a commited developer. Here is hoping they keep up the good work.

Could be fun, but it clearly needs a lot of work.

It's much more akin to Red Orchestra when it started out as a UT2004 mod. No vehicles, heavily focused on objective based infantry combat.

S.C.: It is supposed to have no crosshair, no health meter, etc. It meant to be more realistic for a 3D FPS.

not like counterstrike at all.. movement is slower, more slippery.. has no crosshair, no health meter

its way more sim-like than CS, but its Source so of course it will be Source-like as well

space captain: Simulator??! How so? It's like Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, etc. This is a great mod. It's like BF2 without tanks, vehicles, etc.

the mod is just "ok" IMO.. not really exciting or fun, just functional - simulator-ish type thing

3. Re: Changelog Jul 8, 2007, 16:33 Bucky

It seems to have helped, though I wish there was a way to mute people. I mean c'mon, HL2DM had it, it shouldn't be that hard to stick in as this is a HL2 mod.

It's fun, but realism can get pretty old when you don't even see your killer most of the time. I guess I'm just too much of an old-school deathmatch-er.

Added server-side cvars "tkremove" and "tkdetect" to help deal with team killers

Best fix on the list. I'm enjoying this mod but its full of teamkiller asshats. A single teamkiller has ruined the experience for an entire server just about every time I've played so far. Hope this change helps, because its a great mod otherwise.
