The AI in TR: A is borderline retarded, as enemies often get stuck around corners. They also just stand there while you shoot them from above.
I actually prefer it this way.....I would rather be able to kill them easily and get on to what I enjoy about the game the most....the puzzle solving and acrobatic "feats of wonder"
Because If I wanted a FPS.....I'd buy a FPS |

| I figure, TRA being a remake of the first TR, they intentionally did not include the gimmicks of Legend you're missing now |

As usual, the camera and combat the game's weaknesses, but they are still leaps and bounds better than any other TR game. Hmm, I'd say that TR: Legend had a better camera and combat system. The AI in TR: A is borderline retarded, as enemies often get stuck around corners. They also just stand there while you shoot them from above.
Combat has been simplified quite a bit. You don't have any grenades, you have fewer weapons and you don't have any special moves aside from a bullet-time headshot. Since most of the enemies (or all, haven't beaten the game yet) are animals/non-humanoids, combat basically consists of waiting for an enemy to charge you and then pulling off the headshot.
The camera can be problematic. When you are hanging from a ledge, you can't rotate the camera in front of Lara so you can't see what's behind her. Occasionally the game will try to force you to focus on certain things so you'll find yourself battling for control of the camera. Finally, when Lara backs into a wall or corner during combat, the camera zooms in right behind her head, making it difficult to see your surroundings and dodge enemy attacks.
The collectibles are also much easier to find than in TR:L. In TR:L, you had three types of collectibles and the latter two were often placed in obscure places that really required the player to explore the environment. In TR:A, there are only two types of collectibles and most of them are placed rather obviously. The challenge stems more from figuring out how to reach the collectibles rather than finding them.
Aside from those issues, the game has some great platforming and puzzles. There is a lot of backtracking but I didn't mind it too much. I still like TR:L better but TR:A is definitely worth a look as well.

...really enjoying this one.
As usual, the camera and combat the game's weaknesses, but they are still leaps and bounds better than any other TR game. Some of the NPC models are a little weak (similar to the bear in the demo,) but the environments look really great and it runs super fast. I hate the default <click, click, click, click> combat. If you are a fan of the series, I suggest picking this up. Even if you only liked the first two games, I suggest you pick this up.
This is what Tomb Raider should be - treasure hunter and puzzle solving, not endlessly shooting people or suspect stories. It is a nice mix of the old along with the new.
If they could just tigthen up the controls and combat and make something new with all this, I think they would have something special.
Realizing the series has its many haters, Ray
