Out of the Blue

I described the aftermath of the blackout here, but not the storm that caused it. Mid-afternoon on Wednesday I looked out the window to a scene out of the Wizard of Oz, with bits of tree debris and rain passing the house horizontally, literally parallel to the ground. With fascination I watched the shingles on a house across the street lift and peel off and blow away like playing cards in the wind. The commotion carried on for a while before the power went, and when the doggies and I walked around surveying the considerable damage (there were numerous large trees downed) several other locals agreed with my theory that we had been hit by a tornado. I wouldn't have even entertained that notion before we had a confirmed tornado in the area last summer (story), but none of the news reports after the storm gave any indication that a twister was involved, so who knows?

How will it affect them at all.
The bible teach us good and about Jesus. That other crap is just crap. The bible shows us the wrong in a effort to improve ourselves, that other is just violent entertainment that contributes to the downfall of good wholesome Christan values.

At least, that is what they think....so why should it affect them in anyway?

To the average follower, nothing. Even to a more devout follower, nothing.

But to some over-zealous religious and/or morality-concerned people I know, it wouldn't matter if it was just 1 page out of a 1,000 or 10 seconds out of 3 hours, they label the entire book or movie as something horrible and indecent that should be kept away from our young. The mere mention of copulation makes then cry "Indecent!"

This same sub-group started protesting a comic book store because they realized how scantily-clad the women were in the comic books how how hidden on a 7-foot shelf behind the register was a completely hidden small stack of "skin magazines" that they sold to adults upon verification. But they also put up fliers about the comics themselves.

So even though nothing happened as a result of this question of vulgarity, I like to imagine that same group of people I know said "Well, damn maybe we have been over-reacting all these years." I mean, a text they hold in high regard has some naughty bits and yet that doesn't automatically make it something "wrong."
