Gaming is profit centered on the console market and has been for about 6 years (world of warcraft is the only exception though it is a huge exception). BioShock is a great example of what developers are doing to former great PC RPG franchises. The developer has repeatedly called Bioshock a "shooter" and not an RPG. It might be a great shooter but its not gonna be anything like System Shock 2 when you have to design the game for a 360's controller.
we already know what happened when Deus Ex 2 was designed for console. That was a HUGE disappointment to virtually everyone who loved the PC game.
Anyone who thinks Bethesda will buck this profitable consonlification trend to turn RPG's into action games is utterly ignoring what happening to RPG games in the current marketplace. Nowadays, games that are labelled "RPG" are either real-time strategy hybrids (click-fests) or shooters with a few limited character choice options (like Stalker).
I wont be buying Fallout 3 unless Bethesda farms it out to some developer who knows what was great about the earlier Fallout games. If Bethesda makes it, it will be a pretty but empty world with 50 cookie-cutter dungeons and an utterly generic story. Teens will love it and buy it in droves.
