Don't use eBay then. Use a proper online store, do the research read the reviews past customers etc.

Ordering within the Eurozone is piss easy and pretty much hassle free without worry, pretty much its well aligned with the Eurozone.

You always have your Credit card protection if that is what is worrying you and you can report them as a fraudlent merchant to the payment service they use. The payment service is usually owned by a major bank.

When I play I get the largest bat I can find to hit the ball, a very large bat is the merchant's payment service. Without them the merchant (store) cant sell anything If they get stuck on a watch list or dropped off theyre fcuked. I have had to call WorldPay once about a store (pretty Big name store) since I had some problems getting in contact with somebody at the store so after the payment service called them their manager was on the phone pretty damn quickly. Payment service watch lists and reports of fraud strike the fear of god into online stores.

For the UK the big ones are WorldPay - owned by Royal Bank of Scotland and Protx. I always try to stay with the big name and bank owned payment services for an online store, they are reliable and a pretty damn big bat to play ball with if you ever need to

I have no worries when I order online. Anyway its just a damn computer game, its not worth collecting, thats just sales PR to get more money out of you along with the various colours of boxes (black and white) that you cant decide which one to get you just get both.

Dont be a sucker and dont purchase box sets, theyre a rip off.

We even have a cooling off period by LAW for online purchases here. Dont you? You are free to return the product if you change your mind and they cannot refuse to accept it unless you have damaged it, not to mention the very nice consumer friendly laws in Europe.

Yes, but access to those laws from overseas are a pain in the ass. Returning the product from overseas for a return and/or refund is time consuming and costly.

And consumer fraud from overseas is very high, as different laws cover each other. This is why so many ebay auctions on both sides of the pond refuse to send one way or the other. It's pretty common knowledge over here that purchasers/sellers from Europe are more likely to rip you off on ebay. Why? Because there's nothing you can do about it easily and it's a better option to write it off.

Just not worth that potential hassle. I order lots of vinyl from overseas, things I couldn't get over here, but if it's something more likely to end up here eventually I'll wait on it. At the very least I save on the cost of shipping and the conversion of the weak dollar.

Yeah, Tribes had the best class system... as in, none. You made up your own classes based on your load-out and could change them on a whim if the situation called for it.

Hell, Tribes epitomized the term "emergent gaming." The advent of skiing completely changed the way the game was played and resulted in something that was nothing like the dev's imagined.

But I digress. Tribes is simply the best example of so many things and there is no point in comparing it to recent games, as doing so will only make me less inclined to play them.

Besides, STALKER is all about the single-player.

aaaah Tribes 1. Those were the days. Players could all play that game how THEY wanted. No one cried or whined. There was no one on the Dev team using bullsh*t words like "we encourage".... which imho is just a lamer than thou way of saying "we FORCE gameplay with shady underhanded Class balancing to appease whinyazz kiddies".

Too bad they didn`t remake Tribes 1, with the Unreal 3 engine. I`d prefer that to anything almost that has been released since.

Imho something has been lost in gaming since the days of games like Tribes.. The real fun. The ability to just let peeps play the game how they wanted within the confines of the games builtin abilities, give their best, win or lose.
Devs balanced Class abilities a whole lot looser I think. No matter what Class, you still felt effective and like ya had a chance.... even if your team mates were nowhere near. Dem were da days man. ;p

Dated as it is quite empty now

Yeah it was the best ever team game I ever played, I bought 3 licences, played it for years, more than any other game and probably the longest time I will play any game in a long while.

While the team aspect and freedom of movement is key, I do want more immersiveness in my environments. That comes from physics and visuals. Pitty we have that without the freedom of movement and team aspect in most games today.

For example, Tribes2 was a great game I think but now its dated and I expect more from a game now.

Dated? How so? I have yet to see any shooter offer the same level of teamplay, mobility and skillful combat as the Tribes (1 and 2) games.

Anyway, this is a bloody DVD the chances of it being defective are low, geez its just a damn game your paying just to get a key. In 20 years who is going to give a damn. You dont need no collectors set. I really doubt it is going to be that valualble, I got boxes of 80's computers and games that are worth more and thats not much.

One thing I fucking hate is fake people aka patriots.

Wow. Way to jump to weird conclusions.

I somehow doubt this has anything to do with country of origin and everything to do with ease of dealing with any problems that may occur with the purchase...

I assume it's because at least 80% of your comments here have been Stalker related and unflinchingly positive. Personally I don't think that makes you a viral marketer, and even if you are you're not a very good one, no offence

Well I'm just a fan who have followed the game since beginning of 2004 I beleive so once in a while I posted some comments in the news related to this game and today I'm happy I will finaly enjoy playing it in less than a month, simple as that.

If anyone want to learn more about me and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. then head up to the official forum on GSC site.

Discount? It's retailing at $39.99, which really isn't bad for something the devs spent a third of their life working on.

Derek Smart has been spending over half his life on Battlefield Earth 3000AD. Does that mean I should be willing to pay $39.99 on it?

Since when does the amount of time someone spends on something determine how much I should pay for it? Duke Nukem is taking much longer to develop than Bioshock is. Should I pay 3DR more money than Irrational simply because they're less efficient than Irrational?

Since when do we reward incompetence?

What exactly does the development time have to do with whether or not the end game is enjoyable?
Actually, they can be strongly correlated. Games that have very long dev times USUALLY have reasons why... severe problems, bugs, poorly coordinated teams, etc. A long development time is symptomatic of many bad problems that can compromise the quality of the end product.

It's not proof... if a team is willing to dump what doesn't work, make the hard sacrifices, and start portions of their work over then they can still come out with a good, late game... Valve is well known for that.

But the sad fact is that very few games come out years late AND worth the wait.

Apple has been using Intel chips for about a year now. You can dual-boot Windows and OS X (I believe that's the current Mac OS) on the same machine. Keep up man!

So people buy an Apple just so they can put Intel chips in them and run Windows? If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...
