Yeah, and after about six months regular use it just fails. Crappy kakbox.

... the 360 is probably your best bet. It's the console that's closest to the PC experience, IMO, in terms of game genre selection and online play.

Its also the closest to a jet engine in terms of noise.

I heard one of them in my friends home and my god its loud. I thought my old computer with 4k rpm fans was loud, but this console could literally win an dB drag prize!

Irrespective of the console, lag makes playing fighting games over the internet a third rate experience.

DOA4 worked fine, didn't work with everyone, some games went a bit slower but I played plenty of games that were fine. Much more fun to play against people.

VF5 is ancient. I feel like I'm back on the dreamcast when I watch that game. They should have shown up with nex gen Tekken. That would have gotten people excited.

Not having online play was a huge mistake for VF5. Huge mistake.

VF5 is supposed to be great, but I don't know anyone that enjoys fighters these days.
I'm sure there are plenty out there, I just don't know of any, so I doubt it's "killer app" material.

Lair might be, but I doubt it.
Motorstorm will likely be more, because it and RFOM combined are probably entiing enough to push some over the edge.

Don't forget Virtual Fighter 5 and Lair. VF5 has gotten incredible reviews so far. 95%+. Yikes. It comes out on 360, later, too.

Unfortunately, I suck at fighters and don't have anyone to play with if I got it

Hoping Lair is cool. Right now I don't have any PS3 games at all to play my PS3 with (besides that free HD Gran Turismo game). I pre-ordered Gundam Musou, a Japan only beat 'em up. It comes out in 10 days. I hope it's good 8) Also hoping Armored Core 4 will be good. Reviews so far say the graphics are not great, but gameplay is pretty fun.

IMO, if you've been a PC gamer for the last 10 years, and you have to choose one console, the 360 is probably your best bet. It's the console that's closest to the PC experience, IMO, in terms of game genre selection and online play.

The PS3 isn't on the verge of destruction.

But how can anyone say it isn't in trouble? It's in massive, enormous trouble. There's a light at the end of the tunnel, but that end is still pretty far away. In all likelihood it'll make it, but c'mon, it's in quite a bit of trouble right now.

I just got a DS and I haven't had so much fun playing a console in as long as I can remember. I only like playing strat games and some mmorpg's so the pc is enough for me. Although, I would like to play oblivion with perfect framerates on the 360. The ps3 is a train wreck. I don't know anyone that has one or wants one.

I think it's fucking hilarious that anyone would spend $600 on a Sony console...

The DS is the only (Non PC) system that, in the past two years, I've actually played games on in a semi-regular fashion. I have a Wii, but other then some Golden Axe and Alien's Crush, haven't done much with it. Same with my X360, which only occasionally gets booted up to see if they post any new state episodes for download.

So tell me again, why consoles are better?

"PS3 isnt in any trouble, despite what kotaku says."

Maybe but here in Seattle in my two month quest to find a Wii there where lots of PS3's sitting at most of the stores Hell best buys even had a pallet full at one time no takers!
If Sony can get some games out maybe just maybe they can turn there US sales around but I aint holding my breath or rushing out to buy one anytime soon.

Kotaku as always misses the obvious. Perhaps they should have checked the euro Amazons... where PS3 has been #1 for weeks, infact the last time I checked the only time it wasnt #1 was after FF12 hit the site. Demand is so high for PS3 in Europe that GT5, not due for over a year often shows up in the top 15. PSP is also showing up with increased sales no doubt due to the same sales boost it got in the US when the PS3 was launched there. Here is one of the euro sites, similar position for the PS3 is on most of them.

As for the games, devs had a choice... release at US launch or release at world launch and spend 4 more months working on the games. Guess which they picked. From march there is a PS3 game due equiv of every 48hours for quite sometime. PS3 isnt in any trouble, despite what kotaku says.

Sega fought hard with the Dreamcast for years.

No they didn't. It came out on 9/9/99 in the US and was killed in 1/01. That's under a year and a half. Mind you, it was the only console out for most of that, the PS2 didn't hit the US until late 2000.

In any case, as much as I'd love to see the PS3 fail, the Wii has NOTHING coming out, so its momentum will be lost. The 360 is also in a slump. The PS3 isn't looking all that much better, but Motorstorm could give them a nice push.

I don't want to buy something that will die out within a year

It could take more than a year for a failed console to actually go down. Sega fought hard with the Dreamcast for years. Sony will fight 10 times as hard with the PS3. Doesn't mean it will give them any better a chance.

Heh, even if I had the money to buy a PS3, the one thing that would keep me from getting one is that crappy controller. It's just a modified PS2 controller with extra triggers and no force feedback (to which in Sony's favor, Immersion can kiss my ass). And it doesn't fit my hands at all. So...no dice for Sony this time around - even if I could afford the system.

March seems to be a good time to look at the PS3 again. The "Launch" was a really pathetic event with most of the titles people were waiting for delayed until March.

I don't think Sony is in danger of losing their audience completely but they have definitely lost a huge chunk of the market.

I have the nagging suspicion that the march titles everyone is counting on are going to hit with a thud and PS3 owners won't have anything to get excited about until late this year.
