Read the history of the .38 cal round in the Philippines against the Morro tribes and why the Army switched to the .45; or review the infamous FBI "Miami Shootout" where the 9mm is proven ineffective in a shootout. eh, bullet ballistics is all voodoo shit anyway. You can read hundreds of stories of .22 bullets going through people's skulls and making pudding.
I carry a 9mm or a .380 at all times. When I become a copper, it will be .40.
The sight picture is more important than caliber. Honestly though, I would rather have 16 rounds of 9mm than 8-12 of .40. The more lead you sling down range the better.

Read the history of the .38 cal round in the Philippines against the Morro tribes and why the Army switched to the .45
The Army still uses the Beretta 92FS (designated the M9), after deciding to change from the Colt 1911 in the early '80s. Officers complained the 1911 magazine didn't hold enough rounds (and we're only talking a maximum distance of 15 yards for qualification here).
I never really liked carrying one (airborne units often carry them along with a rifle) as the stopping power sucked, the slides went slack way too fast, and the parts can become rapidly corroded.
I suppose it's fine recreational firearm, but for military and police use it sucks.
or review the infamous FBI "Miami Shootout" where the 9mm is proven ineffective in a shootout. Good body armor is a regular commercial item. Most American and European civilians (not contractors or government personnel) I saw overseas in the Balkans and Afghanistan had them. The IBA's the US military is so fond of can stop a couple of a 7.62 Russian AK rounds (at least I saw from an armor plate on display at my battalion HQ that came back from Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan).

bah, yet another argument against the feeble 9mm round.
Had the parking lot owner been carrying a .40 or .45 or .357 or .44 this piece of shyt would be fcking dead Dead DEAD and there'd be no bullsht discussion over civil "rights".
If you're going to carry a firearm to protect yourself at all, then carry something that will do the job.

Is there an easier way to make use of special characters other than letting MS word imput them for me or using Character Map? Particularly with French or Spanish words, when you've got characters like à, è, ù, etc.
In character map, at the bottom look at the bottom right, it gives you a keystroke (not all have a keystroke, but if you use a certain few over and over it is really easy to remember).

Particularly with French or Spanish words, when you've got characters like à, è, ù, etc. Not a solution for once-in-a-while character pickings, but: Install a keyboard map from the Regional settings in Control Panel - that´s how I am able to type Western European (e.g. Czech) or Icelandic characters. Unfortunately, this means that you will have to memorize the keypresses to retrieve those keymapped characters... Alt-Shift (Apple-option-Space in OSX) is the typical combo to switch layouts.

Flu 'could wipe out 62 million'. Nature correcting itself. I don't think I would be all that upset if I or my family died from this new one. We are subject to the laws of nature - eventually nature will find a way to get rid of us.
Sounds kind of morbid for x-mas time - but hey, lets be real - we deserve 10x this!!!

Probably have more luck if the prosecution offered to remove the bullet for free - then they'd have it, and the kid would have the bullet out of his head. If the kid refused a free operation to remove a bullet from his head, that'd just scream guilty to me. Plus if they linked the bullet to that particular shooting, they could just have the kid stamp more license plates to pay off that 'free' operation. Actaully - there is a Supremem Court case that deals with this. The individual has a right to privacy to not undergo any uneeded surgery to retrieve evidence. I don't have my law books in front of me, so I can't cite it.
He is one lucky son of a bitch that is for sure. To bad the bullet didn't strike him in the eye. Would have been dead and problem solved.
