Not that I care or want one just feel bad for all those that do. Plus I love to hate Sony like most people love to hate MS.

Hey, I hate them both with a passion, but not as bad as EA but almost.

(hasn't bought an EA game since need for speed underground.)

I'm curious about this boobs thing you mention. What is it? A new form of Jiggly Physics(tm)? A new UI? Advanced AI?

Please, tell us more about boobs.

What makes me laugh is (and I almost feel badly about laughing) that Sony pointed their stubby Japanese fingers at MS the entire 360 launch and chuckled and made numerous media statements as to how their release would not have these issues and that anyone wanting a PS3 on release day would have one. LOL

Sony also said that my cat would shit PS3 black and white starting a week before launch, and that hasn't happened either!
Anyone who still believes ANYTHING Sony says with regards to release dates and shipping numbers is just plain insane.

Gears of War has ruined me.

I want all my games to look, and play, that good now.

So, sad.

As for the "pre-ordering" thing. Well, first, I wouldn't blame Gamestop, at least not entirely. Sony gave them numbers, Gamestop went out and signed up pre-orders for those numbers, Sony yanked the rug out from under them. One could argue Gamestop should have known better, but, whatever.

Target's got it right. No preorders. First-come, first-serve.

Then again, it will be a cold day in hell before I'm worried about buying a PS3.

AND, as a complete aside, WTF ever happened to all the Sony fanboys, and many others, who were bitching and moaning about how big the original Xbox was? Where are the cries of dismay about the size of the PS3?

The rep guys says the some elements of the game will exceed the expectations of the trailer... LOL
I.E. it will be playable where as the trailer wasn't.

I think this announcement is just meant to steal some thunder from 360 and Gears of War.

It can't be any worse then what Best Buy did. After launch they stockpiled 360's for a month just so they could do an advertising blitz for their fliers.

PEOPLE!!!

What the hell is everyone bickering about the PS3 launch having shortages, and GameStop swindling gamers for?!? That's got to be the most obvious piece of 'news' in history!

Frankly, I am shocked that so obvious has distracted you all from the real gaming news scoop of the decade here:

Dead Or Alive Xtreme 2 Commercial Contains Boobs.

This is nothing like the 360 pre-order BS. They took 10 orders per store for the PS3. When the 360 launched most stores took between 25 - 50 pre-orders and ebgames and gamestop lined up enough online orders to keep them busy until March of the next year.

Not the store I went to. Their list was over 100 for the 360. I would not be surprised if they went over the limit for the PS3.

They're still requiring a deposit. If they're only starting to take pre-orders a month in advance, then this shouldn't be necessary. It's not like they are going to be stuck with the unsold units. It's still a scam.

It would appear that before ebgames and gamestop start selling things online they want to make good on these pre-orders. Otherwise why not sell online bundle pre-orders now?

Getting mad at gamestop about this is absurd. They have taken extremely low numbers of Pre-orders and sony can't even meet that. Be mad at Sony for gods sake.

Who didn't expect this to happen?!

A lot of parents who are buying the thing for their kids and aren't taking the time to follow the gaming press?

You keep forgetting that just because you happen to know (or believe) something, doesn't mean that everyone else does too.

As someone who played the pre-order game with the 360, I learned my lesson and did not even think about getting a PS3 from Gamestop/EB or anywhere else for that matter. Knowing the 360 initial unit counts, the PS3 initial unit counts are just too damn low to even think about it.

However, GameStop should definitely be taking some flak for this. They above everyone else should have learned some lessons from the 360 launch, because this is their business. They should have also learned from people like me who were told for months that they were low enough on the list to get a 360 on launch day, only to be told the day before that they'd need to wait another month or two after launch. When you put down a hefty deposit on a system, games, and accessories months in advance and are told a unit will be available for you on launch day it is not unreasonable to expect a pre-order means you get it on time. Otherwise, just tell the truth and say you don't expect to cover more than the first 20 people on the pre-order list on launch day.

They should have learned because I'm sure I wasn't the only one who told them on launch day to cancel everything because I was looking elsewhere. Unfortunately, the desire to hook customers with false claims thinking they'll wait is still stronger than the backlash that happens when they don't honor their agreements. And this time there really isn't an excuse, because a PS3 will be even more rare than the 360 on launch day.

With these launches, getting a hold of a console is really about who you know. There are going to be alot more Wii units, but I also know someone who has some inside dealings with Nintendo and can actually guarantee a unit.. and no deposit!

That logic might work if everyone expected this to happen

....omg you can't be serious? Who didn't expect this to happen?! PS3 news bites are EVERYWHERE. They have been talking about shortages for months, and it was very evident that this was going to happen BEFORE the pre-orders were taken.

Sony planned on releasing 2 million on launch day, then it was 1 million, now it's 400k in the US.(or is that for NA altogether?) Did you notice that the 100k planned to go to Japan was actually 88k?

GameStop/EBGames held off taking pre-orders of PS3. Waited until they had the best estimates they could get from Sony.

I think Gamestop and EBgames handled this launch better than the 360 by waiting longer to take pre-orders and taking far less than they did before.

Yeah, they finally got a grip with reality about six months or so back and started admitting there would be shortages. Yet they still claimed the reason they didn't start mass producing the units until just a few months ago... well it was all part of their plan. There was nothing wrong we planned it this way. Bahaha

And after the shortages with the 360 GameStop/EBGames held off taking pre-orders of PS3. Waited until they had the best estimates they could get from Sony. But it was all for nothing. Sony still dropped the ball and has made even more errors in their launch than MS.

Not that I care or want one just feel bad for all those that do. Plus I love to hate Sony like most people love to hate MS.
