I'm gonna hold off until there is a 'Soccer Mom on cell phone with 5 kids bouncing around a TANK SUV, while trying to put on her makeup, do her hair, and eat fast food' sim.
And the expansion 'Blue Hairs: Life in the fast lane at 35mph!'
Welcome to my Florida.

Driving is a recreational activity for more people than hunting is... Driving a bus is not a recreational activity especially not being a mass transit bus driver which is what this game simulates.
In addition even your general premise is wrong. More people hunt for recreation or sport than necessity than those who drive for recreation or sport rather than as a means of transportation at least in the U.S.

As a bus driver, you have to drive to a timetable on a planned route, whilst obeying traffic rules, and taking care not to upset or injure your passengers.
What? That's not what driving buses is about. Seems to me it's all about making sure bums don't frighten away your passengers, going prematurely bald from the stress of navigating a giant bus through insane traffic, developing a callous view towards humanity as you are forced to speed past a packed stop due to lack of capacity, and praying that the bus doesn't break down or that someone didn't crash their car into a pole holding up the bus electrical wires.
Ah, the joys of living without a car in a province that cares more about twinning bridges to suburbs than adding buses to already crowded routes...

Then again, it could also be that someone watched way too much Penn and Teller and decided to re-create the minigame in their never-published console game. I'm glad that Desert Bus got at least one mention

You people must be too young to remember when Deer Hunter was the #1 selling PC game for a few months and it sold over 700,000 copies.
Your analogy is specious. Hunting is a recreational activity so it is no surprise that some people would want to experience it virtually. On the other hand driving a bus is a job and a mundane one at that. Unless this game is the equivalent of Crazy Taxi (and I can't imagine it would be since a bus has defined routes and a schedule), this game will be inane.

Me? I'm a gamer. What do I look for in a game, over everything else? Innovation.
Get on the bus man! Don't help demonstrate the general downfall of videogaming over the past ~8 years! Well, there you go! There's PHJF's call for innovation taking place r i g h t t h e r e in a game that not only allows you to drive a people hauler, but you can also sing "The wheels on the bus go round-and-round, round-and-round" in the privacy of your own without sounding like a fruitcake. Multiplayer capability allows others to join in on the fun!

Then a chuckle at my last time in a school bus, on the way to the Senior Night. The guy was an insane driver; running reds, taking turns a little-too-fast, all the while insighting the entire bus to chant "BALLS OF STEEL! BALLS OF STEEL!"
I had a friend who had a habbit of bringing powered sugar donuts on the bus, rubbing them under his nose (to make it look like he'd been snorting "something" ), and then, when the bus driver wasn't looking, acting like he had tourettes syndrome by quickly standing up, screaming "SHITDAMNHELLFUCK" and then quickly sitting back down, before the driver could spot him...

Sure, on the surface it sounds lame. Immediately memories of my few stints on the city bus come into mind, followed by the years of tormet on a yellow school bus for field trips (I walked to school). Then a chuckle at my last time in a school bus, on the way to the Senior Night. The guy was an insane driver; running reds, taking turns a little-too-fast, all the while insighting the entire bus to chant "BALLS OF STEEL! BALLS OF STEEL!"
But on the other hand, it doesn't sound that bad. I remember trying to do just that in (I think) a few missions in the original "Driver." Get from here to there in x minutes, but don't wreck this special misison-car that crumbles if you take a turn too hard.
That equated to driving and obeying all of the rules of the road to avoid the psycho-psychic police from wrecking your mission-car made out of what must be glass.
The whole "beat the clock while obeying the traffic laws" can be skillful. Frustratingly skillful.
Then again, it could also be that someone watched way too much Penn and Teller and decided to re-create the minigame in their never-published console game.
