Out of the Blue

I got a call yesterday from the kennel where the doggies will spend this weekend (it actually is billed as a doggie resort, anyone who knows how we love our canine pals here can imagine we looked hard to avoid this being a trip to the pooch penitentiary). It seems the vaccination info and such we had forwarded to them from the vet did not include the requisite fecal test results, which would actually prevent them from being able to stay there. So amid other pre-trip arrangements I had to make the two hour round-trip to the vet to drop off an emergency poop shipment. Luckily we know quite well that the dogs are in good health, because I have to admit to just burgling a couple of turds at random from the yard, so these tests won't really be that valid, as they will be based on what was literally a crap-shoot.

Maybe he does the convention circuit too -- that could certainly net him a good bit of dough too.

Most of the shows he's voices for and such are the kinds that usually fall through my typical watching habit. Now that I've seen his list, I recognize his voice now and rather I'm surprised I didn't pick it out at certain times (especially his narration of Call of Duty 2).

Your best chance is Mario Kart...I suck at that one.

edit: And yeah, the DS is like crack.

useually hearing wise I pick up stuff like that but it was the first time I had heard his voice (in Full Throttle) outside a movie or tv show. Like I can be in the computer room and the roomie will have the TV on and I can typically recongnize the show or movie by speech or music.

As for portables... I never really got into them. Beyond Tetris, and Advanced Wars the only other games I liked on the Nintendo line of portables was the Pokemon series. Yes I said Pokemon, the Nintendo series is very much like a VERY-VERY-VERY lite version of the old Final Fantasy Games.

Now I saw they did a remake of a Final Fantasy game for the DS. But the one I want is with the twins and the little black headed guy that looks like a jawa. Now if they remake that for the DS I'll be all over it

Actually I stand corrected I didn't recognize his voice at first in Full Throttle, or as the Joker in the Batman Animated Series.

Really? I thought the laugh was a dead give away.

I am getting addicted. And I NEVER liked handheld games before. Had a bunch of previous items, but the DS Lite is pretty damn cool. (forgot my DS Lite at work. :-()

He's practically made himself a professional job out of it

No practical about it -- that's his job now. Maybe he does the convention circuit too -- that could certainly net him a good bit of dough too.

As I understand it voice acting is actually very hard and very different from "normal" acting -- you often don't get to even see/hear the other actors while recording, much less actually perform physical acting (beyond waving arms and whatnot).

Then again, I think I heard/read that from a professional voice actor, who might have a bit of bias

I'm kinda surprised Lolicon, at least to me he has a very easy to spot/hear voice.

Are you kidding?

He's done a TON of voice jobs...

Good god, I really do stand corrected. He's practically made himself a professional job out of it and some of those shows I wouldn't have thought it was actually him, let alone the fairly decent range of voicing he does.

How is Yakuza?

It's not bad. It's definitely not up to the hype it was put through, but if you liked Shenmu in the least, you may like this. Ah, Japanese GTA I wouldn't call it as it takes place in the Kabuki-cho part of Tokyo and you're always on foot. Combat's fun but it does keel out after awhile. The random encounters are starting to get a little old and the RPG-style stat system can probably be interpreted as useless if you don't like that kind of thing.

The storyline is damn good and it's kind of a shame they couldn't keep the original language track (something about lack of space on the PS2 dvd...? I think I would've just forgone the English track altogether).

Kind of amusing to hear Michael Rosenbaum's voice pop up, as well as Mark Hamil's (wasn't aware he was into professional voice acting these days). If you into this expecting a GTA style game, you might want to hold off for awhile. I'm enjoying it, if for nothing else just seeing the game world. I've been to Kabuki-cho and it's cool to see it in game form, neon and all.

I was playing through Yakuza and came across Club Sega with UFO Catcher machines outside...lol...I don't know much actual money I've spent trying to get shit out of those things in RL. Nice touch on the game.

How is Yakuza? I was thinking about getting it, but wanted to hear some stuff abuot it first. Reviews aren't all that great - supposed to be the Jap version of GTA but is lacking in a big way. ??? Anyone?

Got my RMA number for the video card. Am rather dreading that they won't find anything wrong with it or blame it on the fact that my motherboard isn't on nVidia's tested list.

Mine isn't either and the GX2 works just fine on it in dual-GPU mode. From everything you posted it sounds like the card itself had an issue with 2D rendering; my old 9800 Pro is slightly wonky with 2D and will sometimes flake out and start displaying all sorts of screen corruption. A reboot always sorts it out, and I've never had an issue with it in 3D.

@Half Elf
The best person around here to talk to about Ranger survivability is Grassman (known as Mord in the guild) though I think he's a little busy with college atm, I haven't seen him in GW or on these boards in awhile.

That would be my guess. He does currently have roughly 6% of BN posts.

And that number probably includes Blue's actual news posts in it as well!

Oh come on. Based purely on percentages it was most likely nin.

Pity what a poor music soundtrack does to what might otherwise be interesting video.
I was expecting some AC/DC some Megadeath, maybe some Skynard. How disappointing.
