I believe ATI dwarfs Nvidia as far as size and financial ability. I read that maybe 6 months ago but am too lazy to find the source. I am sure it is easy to find.
One thing I would LOVE to see on chipsets is just basic video ability. Wouldn't it be nice just to have a built in video card capable of displaying 1280X1024 at 16bit? This would be great for Server systems say using the Asus A8N Sli model. Some motherboards do this, and if is added anohter $5-7 to the total cost I would be with it. Of course this wouldn't have any 3D capability.
Just like integrated sound, very handy when you don't want to buy a full creative or other sound board.
If anything were to go soon, it would be Creative or companies that just make sound boards. They should be integrated into the chipset like I believe there is now a Asus Fatality MB with a Creative Xchip on it. That is cool. I have never had issues though with the AC97 built into my Asus board, it is fine. Havent had to purchase a sound card in 4 years.
