Half-Life 2: Episode One Stats

A page of Half-Life 2: Episode One Stats on the Steam Website (thanks Voodoo Extreme) has the results from a "reporting mechanism" within the game. They offer some results and charts that demonstrate the possibility that there is a bug in their reporting, or a surprising number of players are failing to complete the shooter episode. Game reporting mechanisms: Helpful? Probably. Creepy? I'd say.

Now they need to steal a username and a password that aren't written down... more difficult.
LOL! It's actually easier because most users idiots save their Steam login credentials on their PC's because that is the default setting and because offline mode won't work without doing it. So, all a hacker needs to do is get one file, and he has your Steam account.

There is also a procedure to claim back the game if you own the media.
And what a wonderful process that must be since Valve is so responsive to its customers. I'd call Valve's customer service telephone number to thank it for its wonderful service IF it had one.

It's pretty sad that your responses are always so predictable.
It's even sadder that you are defending the company like you work for it or own stock in it. You don't. You are simply a fan and a rabid one at that.

Valve moved with the times. And bullshit it is not. Valve added Counter-Strike, Day Of Defeat, Team Fortress Classic and then updated them and the core game considerably, including revamped interfaces, netcode and security through VAC (which was a joke but they at least tried). So whilst you may choose to stick your head in the sand to the most influential online game of the time (and still hugely important to this day),
LOL! None of that has a damn thing to do with forcing Steam upon its existing customers as none of that requires the bloated, invasive, copy-protection/DRM system called Steam which Valve uses to control when its games can be played, tracks how they are played, and is used to push sales of the rest of its games and third-party crapware onto its current customers.

why can't you accept the huge contribution they have made to gaming?
The only huge contributions Valve has made to gaming are to erode the ability of its customers to use its games how and when they choose, and to force the gaming consumer to pay more for less both through the push for episodic gaming and the monopolistic digital distribution and the resulting elimination of the used game market. Any other contributions Valve has made with regards to its game themselves have either been derivative or simply evolutionary steps which other game developers have matched or exceeded. Valve didn't pioneer online play or mods. Many modders simply migrated to Half-Life from Quake 1 and 2 since it was the next big game. Even if Valve's games actually were the paragons of gaming achievement which you and its other fawning minions would like to believe, that still does not justify its poor customer service policies. I am not willing to have a company shit on me, rob me blind, or treat me like a criminal because they have made some enjoyable games.

You act as if their only intention is to fuck over gamers and that is blatantly not true.
Valve's only intention is to make as much money as it can, and unfortunately the popularity of Valve's games enables it to take advantage of its customers in that pursuit of profits more than most other companies could get away with.
