your fallacy is a lack of comprehension abilities...
Maybe, maybe not. But judging from your mixed up statements, you're not on much higher ground.
try looking up the word "rhetorical" in the dictionary Your use of rhetoric was correct, but it begs the question nonetheless.
if youve never witnessed high expectations causing a letdown when they arent met, thats your problem No, not really. I just shrug it off and move on. I'd be a nervous wreck if I didn't.
but i think your unwillingness to put 2 and 2 together is the real reason behind your "argument". My "unwillingless" was my refusal to reject something out of pure assumption. IE, I'd like to try the actual game before basing a more definite oppinion on it.
try to actually understand the concepts involved instead of knee-jerk debating with bullshit abstractions It's called a logical fallacy and it's not abstract at all. They are often the most common mistakes people make when presenting their arguments. In fact, it's taught in your most basic college class, IE, the general education requirement classes such as English Comp 1/2, Speech, etc.
i proposed a theory that is actually quite easy to understand, its not "one random thing causing the other simply because its present".. Your words, not mine. I was merely pointing out that you shouldn't make that kind of assumption about it. The hype surrounding the game really isn't that rediculous compared to other examples, anyway.

When did they decide to bump it back 3 hours? I don't think they did. They said 9PM PST, which is midnight EST. I'm glad to see it's a premiere and not an exclusive. Let's hope that trend continues.

When did they decide to bump it back 3 hours? Thursday, June 15, 2006 Prey Demo Next Week [June 15, 2006, 7:04 pm ET] - 40 Comments GameSpot announces they will be premiering the demo for Prey on Wednesday June 21 at 9:00 pm Pacific time, which translates to the stroke of midnight Thursday for those of us on the U.S. east coast. Word is the sample of Human Head's DOOM 3-engine first-person shooter will offer one hour of gameplay and will include two multiplayer maps in addition to single-player mode. Further:
Defy the law of nature with gravity flipping, a feature that allows you to walk on ceilings and turns deathmatch mode upside-down. Explore unreachable areas with wall walking, and transport from one sphere to another through space-bending portals. With all these unique gameplay elements, you don't want to miss this highly anticipated FPS demo!

What you been up to lately? Or is that in the "I'm not allowed to say" dept?
Just wanted to say I recently replayed ST:EF and although the graphics are now dated, it's still a great game and possibly the best ST game ever made. I'm also getting ready to reinstall JK:JA after a brief hiatus, as it's the best SW FPS combat you can get! Every time I play SW Battlefront 2 I wish for another JK game...

I saw the demo on a big screen at E3 and I was really blown away by the graphics. This is not vanilla Doom 3 by any means. I'd say it closer to Quake 4 in terms of graphics, but with some very interesting features like 360 degree walkways, outdoor areas that take place on floating asteroids, and of course, the whole death/reincarnation thing is pretty interesting. Definitely looking forward to it.

The demo will be out midnight tonight EST as a gamespot exclusive. Likely friday for the rest of us who aren't going to pay $5.95 to download it from gamespot. Its not an exclusive, its simply a "premeire". The minute someone downloads it can be uploaded to another server and distributed.

If I think a game is going to suck I simply don't play it.
Prey I will likely play. Depends on what the reviews say. If they say it's bland, vanilla, I'll ignore it. If they say the novel ideas actually work I'll pick it up.
I'm leaning towards interesting but boring. Yes, it sounds like an oxymoron, but I don't like the character designs I've seen, don't like the visual aspects of the level designs, and I'm not convinced the novel ideas will be fun.
But I'm keeping a close eye on it.
