Counter-Strike, WoW, and Battlefield 2 happened to mods. They co-opted all of players.

Mods are dying because engines arn't being made to be modded.

I'm hoping Hull Breach turns into something worthwhile...but I'm not holding my breath. Right now I'd be happy with a game with some decent deathmatch in it (thinks of Prey and prays).

This isn't U2XMP. That was released, and abandoned quickly by the develoeprs AND the community, as the developers closed their doors, and the community also got hit by the UT2004 release.
This was a mod apparently made with one of the involved company's blessing, and is a near exact clone of U2XMP but in UT2004.
Much like U2XMP, I don't believe anyone plays the mod in big numbers. Such is the curse of UT2004.
What the hell happened to the mod scenes? HL2 is the only real recent modding engine left, and you've only got shit like Hidden or Empires left, both mods I followed anxiously only to be led to disappointment.
