Developers make some compromises to appeal to more gamers... the more gamers that like the product the better. Some people won't like this but it is designed that the majority will. Games now cost more to develop (top tier games like Oblivion costs upwards of $30 million) and are no longer a niche market - therefore the bigger games will be more dumbed down in order to be economically viable.
Yeah, sadly that is true. But somehow we have to fight that every step of the way because at this rate they are all going to be making the same game, just with different texture packs. And I don't think they really had to dumb Oblivion down as much as they did. Morrowind sold well despite the knuckledraggers complaints. |
