Valve announces that Half-Life 2: Episode One is now available via
Steam: Valve Launches First of an Episodic Trilogy
Bellevue, WA, June 1, 2006 - Valve®, developer of the blockbuster series
Half-Life® and Counter-Strike™, announced Half-Life® 2: Episode One is now
available via Steamgames.com for just $19.95 and at retail outlets around the
world.
The first in a trilogy of episodic games, Episode One reveals the aftermath of
Half-Life 2 and launches a journey beyond City 17. Episode One does not require
Half-Life 2 to play and also includes a first look at Episode Two, which will
ship by year's end.
In addition to the new single player experience, two multiplayer games are
included. And those who purchase Episode One will have free access via Steam (www.steamgames.com)
to Half-Life 2: Lost Coast, the interactive technology demo that introduces High
Dynamic Range lighting to the SourceTM Engine, Valve's award-winning game
technology.

I'm overpaid? Keep spewing that shit from your mouth about people you know absolutely nothing about. I've got an average job with average pay, it's called middle-class and we are the majority. I'm sorry you lack basic education to get yourself above minimum wage and expect everyone to lower financial standards just to make you happy.
What $20 gets me on Steam vs $20 retail...
- I dont have to drive to the store to pre-order. With these gas prices, you save quite a bit by not having to drive to stores.
- I dont have to give my money until the day its released.
- On release day I dont need to waste my lunch break to wait in line behind some illiterate fuckwads holding everyone up at the counter because they didnt read the trade-in policy.
- I dont have to walk into the retail outlet to have the desk clerk say "I'm sorry I thought you wanted the XBox version, so we dont have your pre-order. Maybe next week, or next month we'll have the new shipment in."
- While I sleep I download the game over several weeks, come home from work on release day and start playing.
- Valve supports their games with FREE additional content and dont have some lame publisher to yank support out at any given moment (see Vivendi, EA, UbiSoft).
And I'd rather pay $60 over 1.5 years and be able to play a new section of a game, than wait 3 years just to find out the game ended up being a dissapointment (see Doom 3).
