Haze Announced

Ubisoft and Free Radical announce Haze, an upcoming cross-platform first-person shooter:

LOS ANGELES – MAY 10, 2006 – Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest videogame publishers, announced the development of HAZE, an innovative FPS game based on new intellectual property.

Developed by Free Radical, creators of the critically-acclaimed TimeSplitters® series, HAZE is scheduled for an early 2007 release for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system*, Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and will also be available on Windows® PC DVD-ROM. Ubisoft will showcase HAZE at the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), May 10–12, at Booth #924 in the South Hall of the Los Angeles Convention Center.

“We are really pleased to be introducing this ground-breaking new intellectual property and to work with the best shooter developers on consoles” said John Parkes, director of marketing at Ubisoft EMEA. “With HAZE, Ubisoft demonstrates its profound commitment to the next-generation of video games and will definitely have a chance to deliver a top notch shooter in one stunning package”.

Thanks to their high-tech arsenal of vehicles, deadly weaponry, and performance enhancing bio-medical support, the Mantel Corporation’s ruthlessly efficient soldiers are the most feared by terrorists, dictators, and the corporation’s political enemies.

Your conflict begins in a war-torn country in South America, where you have been sent to fight a vicious rebel faction, The Promise Hand. At first glance, all is well, but things quickly begin to look a little strange…

Is Halliburton funding this game, or what?

Fulfillment AKA $$$.
Thrills AKA imported underage Thai hookers and coke.

That's the real world of PMCs. Look up "Dyncorp slave trade".

The words Ex Deus : IW, Pariah, Rainbow Six resound joyfully in my brain.

Ubisoft, shut your fucking COCKHOLE. The ability to put a fucking CD in a box and putting that box on a retail shelf does not exactly mean you "CREATE" anything.

C'mon who could get the least bit excited about an Ubi release for the PC now??

The only one I can think of is the next Splinter Cell.

Ahh, killing for corporate profits is a good cause is it?

As if that doesn't already happen. There's an extremely lucrative market for ex-military personnel with infantry and special forces backgrounds; and the salaries go up considerably with previous rank obtained and training acquired. Sometimes the resources just aren't available in the military and they have to look to the outside. The US government outsources to private firms more that it cares to admit.

Ubi + Lockdown, Ubi + Blazing Angels, Ubi + GR:AW.

The first 2 were just garbage and should never have been released for the PC. GR:AW--well lets just say it still needs a heck of alot of work/patches(as in MP play and a dedicated server). C'mon who could get the least bit excited about an Ubi release for the PC now?? Their track record speaks for itself. They were all cross platform games and they just didn't have the expertise to make the jump to the PC platform--in other words-rushed out by the suits from UBI even though they weren't ready for prime time.

3 shots. But they do looks fairly good actually.
Though I agree, very FryCry esc. Too bad the video is total BS and does not show any gameplay.

But the screens did peak my interest a little.

Screenshots and the worst game trailer I've seen all year.

2 shots?
Can't watch vid right now, but it looks just like FarCry. Also very hazy! No pun intended.

Just doesn't look very crisp and clear. Typical fake photo or doctored photo - just like the ones from yesterday.

It's set for release in 2007. I suppose we'll know more at next E3.

Nice to see this on PC, too. I just hope we don't get GoldenEye aiming mechanics *shudder*. That's what killed TimeSplitters to me.

No screen shot. No concept art. Just hype text being released during the midst of E3. Yeah, good going guys...that should get you all the attention you are hoping for with a pres release……
