I don't buy stuff off iTunes. I'd rather buy the CD and not deal with DRM crap, not to mention better quality.

I bought two albums off there just to try the service out. Not too long after that (the next week IRC) I bought a pair of earphones to replace the junky little ones supplied with the iPod and I really could tell the difference. I've not downloaded anything on iTunes since.

Probably the same theory that allows iTunes to sell music online for more than the equivalent price of a CD.

Since when? iTunes is $.99/track or $9.99/CD.

Sure, you can get some really old, badly selling CDs for less, but that's about it.

And, that said, no, I don't buy stuff off iTunes. I'd rather buy the CD and not deal with DRM crap, not to mention better quality.

They'll sell to execs who want to play movies on their laptops while they're on the trian. Or something. Might work...

So let me get this straight - WB will charge DVD prices for a less-than-DVD quality download crippled with DRM (and without the special features and art)

Yeah, they're following Sony's UMD plan...

"Those are selling like hotcakes!"
"Wait! Those aren't selling at all!"
"Wait! We'll bundle them with the regular dvds!"
"Hey? Why is everyone buying 2 gig memory sticks for $90 and using dvdshrink?"
"Hello?"

Wow - lower quality, same price point, crippled DRM, and they don't even pick up the cost of hosting.

I'm sold - how do I get my computer to act as a server for them? Because I've always wanted my $45/m for internet to be used at the will of media companies to avoid the hosting fees associated with "allowing" users to download DRM crippled overly-expensive movie releases. Huzzah!
