F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point Announced

Sierra announces plans for F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point, an expansion for Monolith's first-person shooter in the works at TimeGate Studios set for release this fall:

ALMA RETURNS IN F.E.A.R.™ EXTRACTION POINT
The most critically acclaimed FPS of 2005 returns!

LOS ANGELES, CA –May 5th, 2006 – Vivendi Games’ Sierra Entertainment today announced that the first expansion pack for the award-winning PC title F.E.A.R.™ (First Encounter Assault Recon), is currently in development and will be unveiled at the forthcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles.

F.E.A.R. is a paranormal action thriller presented entirely in first person, an unprecedented adrenaline rush of close quarters combat seamlessly melded with the spine-tingling, shocking intensity of the unknown.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point kicks off where the original game ended – with a bang. The First Encounter Assault Recon Team (F.E.A.R.) returns to battle the now free Alma and her paranormal minions across a destroyed city. New locations, weaponry and enemies combine to take the F.E.A.R. franchise to new levels of action and suspense.

Developed by TimeGate Studios in conjunction with Monolith Productions, F.E.A.R. Extraction Point is an intense first person close-quarters combat experience that expands and continues the rich atmosphere and engaging, paranormal horror storyline first unleashed in F.E.A.R.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point is planned to ship for PC during Fall of 2006.

Anyone know what they've done? I loved FEAR, best shooting mechanics in an FPS ever, but it was a tad too short, and it REALLY needed more different sets. Watercleaning facility/offices/dead part of town just really didn't vary things enough.

I liked the office levels, although I seriously doubt that a building that looked that small could really house all those offices and corridors that you crawled through

Farcry vs Fear is a tough comparison, since they both really had different focal points. I enjoyed playing Farcry more than FEAR, but FEAR felt better as a shooter.

Farcry is still my number one shooter ever, and I think Crysis is going to rock.

Creston <- Crytek fanboy.
