Wrong. They only have a license to do three Fallout games but that specifies not a MMO Fallout... which they have stated they have no interest in doing either way.
As far as D&DO... different strokes maybe?
I tried it in a beta phase and was bored to tears before getting several hours into it. I just scratched my head and tried to figure out why they would license D&D and then only use it in the title.
The problem with Oblivion is now that most of us have played it (or finished with it) we wonder why all games can't be of this quality.
You may not like it, maybe you don't consider it a true RPG (Huh?), or whatever... but the point is the game is above average in nearly ever aspect. I would say it is as near perfect as any game has ever been. Only a few others rank up there. And once you have played a high quality product you get even more pissed off at the less than stellar shit that over crowds the game store shelves.
I notice this same thing happened after WoW was released. There have even been articles written on how Wow hurt the market. Comparing pre-WoW games sales to post-WoW game sales.
I know for a fact I have bought far fewer games in the past two years. I would be willing to guess maybe 50% less or even lower than that.
And that is not because WoW sucked. If it did I wouldn't have played it for 8 to 12 months, after several months as a beta tester.
Yeah I got tired of it and I have no intention of picking it back up at this time but a high quality product takes your mind off all those others that may be ok or good enough to play until something better comes along.
In the end it all comes down to your opinion. Hell, there are people still paying to play Ultima Online. And I bet they are happy to do it. So if you like D&DO... enjoy it. I don't see a very long shelf life for it. But then they could always sell ad space and advertise Doritos or whatever in the hubs.
