Fly the Aussie Skies

The ADF: Aviator Page (thanks Antony) features downloads of ADF: Aviator, a free combat flight simulator from the Australian Defence Force offered as a recruiting tool. The game offers the chance to sample the life of a pilot in the Navy, Army, and Air Force. Word is:

Flying is only part of your role as a pilot in the Australian Defence Force. Before each mission you will experience mission briefings and perform a pre-flight check of your aircraft. After the sortie you will be debriefed on your performance. Using the hardware encyclopaedia you will have access to extensive specifications for each of the featured aircraft.

Created in collaboration with active and veteran aviators from the Australian Navy, Army and Air Force, ADF: Aviator provides an informative and exciting overview of life as an aviator in the ADF.

You're aware Australia is one huge continent all of itself right? Surrounded by.. water?

When you're surrounded by water, what part of having a Navy sounds strange to you?

Oh then there's the Army and Air-Force, which (along with the Navy) have played important roles in many theatres of conflict and peace-keeping missions around the world for many years.

It's kind of a shame that there are still people in this day and age (with internet access for crying out loud) who seem to lack a basic understanding of other countries.

Uh...yeah, they do. An airforce and a navy is but two components to an overal national military apparatus. A little concept called national defense isn't limited to just the Americans alone.

They really make you jump through hoops to get this file. And, when you finally start downloading it, you'll discover that the server doesn't support resuming so the connection had better not break during the download.

As an interesting sidenote, I am installing this game now, and from the looks of the files it is a Torque engine game.

Yeah you shouldn't have potential recruits getting an accurate idea of life in the defence force.

Well, here in good old Aus.... our Airforce has some number of FA-18's and, of which, about 20% are actually in flying condition according to all newspaper reports.... so, I can see their need for a simulator;P

All we have to do now is hope that the Maricopa County Brownies only invade us with a simulator, too.... lmao

I hope there's a mission where you have to blow up 'X' amount of dingos before they steal all the babies.
