Just simple markup and style them with CSS. Jim, have you looked at the HTML on this site?
From the W3 validator for http://www.bluesnews.com:
Result: Failed validation, 249 errors
Of course, most sites have errors, and Blue's made it clear previously that HTML is not his one, true love, but there's a lot of cruft around here (like most of the sidebar).
But the cruft is why we like it! (Except for the missing t-shirts)

This is a good tool to check code with:
http://validator.w3.org/
As for tables, they've been around for ages so you don't have ot do anything fancy to ensure that they work with all the browsers out there. Just simple markup and style them with CSS.

here is the paint by numbers picture
http://david-synnott.magix.net/
it took me just over an hour to do, while watching tv. It's a picture of his sister looking like a snake type character.
To view the large image click "Random" on the left hand side, then you'll see a thumbnail of the picture with a toolbar underneath. Click the very far right button on the toolbar for the fullscreen pic.

But I am a nerd/dork because I have a legal copy of Maple 10 and use it nearly every day! Maple was created at University of Waterloo which is here in town. I remember using it back when it only ran on Unix, about 20 years ago when I was in Grade 8 or so.

Yeah, even though I mentioned R, I always end it using matlab instead for what I need. It's just faster for me to get something done in it, and most of my co-workers use it, so its easier for me to share with them if I'm also using matlab.

Try using R, its free and pretty powerful. Yes I have tried it before. But over-all maple can do more.
I was thinking about something more like SAS. While some of the features would be nice to have, that is just too much for me as in, I do not even have enough knowledge of statistics to make any real use of it. If I had the program, I would probably learn. But it is not really needed, other then the nerd factor.

It is not the best program for that, but the pure statistical programs are like $10,000, and way to advanced for me. Try using R, its free and pretty powerful.

What torqued me in the past was when I was using Win95 and had a scratched disk that couldn't be read (a friend dropped it, IIRC) - there was no way I could find to get a replacement disk. I would have happily paid for postage and a small replacement fee, but I had to go buy a new copy. grrrr.

Would it be worth it to try to contact MS or Dell on this, or should I/we just fork over $90 for an XP Home disc? Home sucks! Microsoft will tell you too bad. Find the case. If you have not yet actually formatted, you can login to the windows (even if just in safe mode) and retrieve the CD key from the system.
If none of those are possible just contact Dell. They will more then likely be able to provide you with the key (that is if he can prove he is he).

Hey guys,
Got a friend of mine whose system I just rebuilt - it -was- an old Dell system, he took some of the guts out, stuck it in a new case, replaced mobo, and got a new vid card... turns out he got rid of the old case which had the Windows XP Home Install code sticker on it...
I looked up a trick outlined here:
http://netsecurity.about.com/od/windowsxp/qt/aaqtwinxp0829.htm
but I had already blown away the previous XP install. Whoops.
Would it be worth it to try to contact MS or Dell on this, or should I/we just fork over $90 for an XP Home disc?
Thanks much,
Dan =0)

Too complicated for me. I made a tiny excel spreadsheet. =a1/13, =a1/17, =a1/19 That would not tell you if it is prime or not, but I guess if you knew what all the others where you could assume everything else is prime.
Would've been pretty quick if those numbers were legible.
That was the hardest part, I tried enlarging and sharpening and smoothing, the original is just too damn small.

Oh, I've heard of it. But when I went to college they didn't let us use it in Calc classes. Of course, a couple years in and they wussed out and let people start using it and being pansies! When I took cal a few years back it was a 3 credit hour lecture and 1 credit hour lab. In the lab we did maple stuff. In the lecture we did all the long ass and annoying integrals by ‘hand’.
But I do not use it for any actual math classes. I mostly use it for the statistics analysis package. It is not the best program for that, but the pure statistical programs are like $10,000, and way to advanced for me.

911 operator dismisses boy’s plea as |

-Local story, pictures and video with the boy and call. http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/8529161/detail.html
They didnt believe him because: "Operators told Local 4 they take nearly 2 million 911 calls every year, and nearly 40 percent of them are not emergencies."
"Kimberly Harris, the union president of AFSCME Local 1023, said more than a quarter of phone calls received by 911 operators are prank calls. She called the incident a "tragedy.""
It's sad, and I'm angry that they would ignore a kid calling , thats the price one family has to pay for all the pranks that go around.
I think the operaters always have to remember what their job is, and how important it is for them to take every call seriously. Especially considering the reason she thought he was faking it, because his parents wouldnt come to the phone...thats just ridiculous.
