Out of the Blue

It was such a beautiful weekend around these parts... MrsBlue was talking with a relative back in the old country (Minnesota), where it apparently won't be shirtsleeve weather for six more week or so, which has us appreciating the spring weather that much more.

Warm Links! Thanks Mike Martinez and Ant.

I had the same problem about a month ago. If you search the OOTB messages you should find it, along with the solution. I don't remember exactly what I had to do, but I think it involved removing a cookie. Check you're bluesnews cookies for something about stylesheets.
You're a genius. A genius I tell you. Looked at my cookies, filtered by Bluesnews, saw one that said simply "style," deleted it, and now I have my beloved Blue Bluesnews back again!

Thanks.

Latest problem for me is that the stupidvideo links are crashing Firefox,

I get the same problems, although for me, just right clicking the taskbar and closing it that way works, although it takes a minute or two to close it out.

Happens after about 5 or 6 videos.

There is also memtest+, a little more advanced.

But I use regular memtest most of the time.

Latest problem for me is that the stupidvideo links are crashing Firefox, and the only way to recover is to warm boot the computer. They used to just loop endlessly, but it looks like they managed to find a way to irrecoverably take out Firefox.

Instead of rebooting, hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and bring up task manager and click the process tab.
Now instead of just clicking the Firefox.exe and clicking end process at the bottom like normal, right click the Firefox.exe and click End Process Tree. Then give it a few second to dump the memory (depending on your computer depend how long it will take, no more then 20 seconds though).

You might also make sure your Windows Media Player, Quick time, and the like are all up to date.

I just moved from Miami to HotLanta, and I HATE IT HERE!

I lived in Atlanta for a year and absolutly hated it there.

All the fanatisicm and fanb0y attitude about the place is just pure denial. The people suck, their attitude sucks, their over inflated prices suck, the weather sucks (I swear it rained everyday for a complete year), the humidity sucks, the traffic SUCKS, the DRINKING LAWS SUCK, the bars suck!

And god forbid you drive downtown and take a wrong turn, I did and was desperatly trying to find a freeway (Any freeway!), stopped by a parked cop car to ask how to find one, and as were pulling away G/F pointed out that the side of his car had been completly destroyed.

BTW if you do make a wrong turn downtown, at night, just run the red lights.
Trust me.

A while back (I believe) someone posted a link to a program for testing RAM. Can someone repost that link?

I found Memtest86... is that it?

24. Re: Need Help/Info on SC/BW + WinXP SP2 Apr 3, 2006, 16:33 Jeraxle

I need some help info, and google isn't answering my question well enough. It involves StarCraft/BW with Windows XP SP2

Ok, I'd like to go out and buy a replacement StarCraft Battlechest as my discs are destroyed AND I lost my CD keys. No bigge, it's only $20 USD at the store nearby. I haven't really played it on a Win PC since XP SP1 was out and have reformatted since.

Anyway, a friend said that he thought that StarCraft or maybe just BroodWar won't install anymore if your system is WinXP SP2.

Any idea if this is true? If so, what can I do to get around it? While it's only $20, I'd rather not spend it if I can't install it.

I have installed both SC and BW on my WinXP Pro SP2 system several times. It works fine.

The kid liked the guy way too much.

"The kid" was Natalie Portman, if you can believe it.

In a way, I agree - but maybe the reason was that (SST) her entire family was killed and had no one else to look up to as a father/mother/brother/lover? Besides, that sort of trauma might damage a child/person for life... or perhaps her character wasn't quite in the right of mind in the first place. (/SST)?

The extended version of The Professional is well worth it, IMO. It has further character development between Mathilda and Leon, and he takes her on a hit or two. Tres cool.

As for Oblivion, I just got it last night, and I'm itching to get back to it.

Ah, thanks! Thats it.

I just moved from Miami to HotLanta, and I HATE IT HERE!

The worst part is the "Atlantitude" that seems to be big here.

I live north of Atlanta and rarely go into the city except to pass through on I-75/85/20. I think I know what you mean though.

I love that movie.

But at the same time, I'm kind of creeped out by it. The kid liked the guy way too much.

The beginning and ending action scenes are works of art. And everything in between is very well written with a nice touch of humor and action. The stoned villain was just perfect.

For some reason, I saw the name The Professional and I thought your talking about The Specialist. Need to keep the tripe separated from the gold there.

Mathilda: Leon, what exactly do you do for a living?
Léon: [Leon] Cleaner.
Mathilda: You mean you're a hit man?
Léon: [reluctantly] Yeah.
Mathilda: Cool.

On a side note. I'm thinking about putting Oblivion aside for a few weeks or months. I've been playing it WAY too much and I think it would be good to just do other things and return to it fresh.

Eh, I'm not quite at that level yet. I'm only at 25 hours and like level 4..........Eh, really should start sleeping some more I suppose. I'd actually like to hit level 10 or so soon so I can start getting some decent stuff off enemies.

I haven't seen this movie in forever and decided to pick it up. Could have picked up a cheaper version, but I found the "Uncut International Version" on Amazon and ordered it. Got it in today, but was wondering if anyone can fill me in on if the extra 24 minutes of stuff is really all that important/good? Doesn't really matter either way, just wondering....

Have to see when I get a few hours without the wife to watch it. She doesn't like these kinds of movies.

16. Blues format is all screwed up Apr 3, 2006, 14:35 Ratty

I connect to Bluesnews this morning and WAAH! No stylesheets! The background is white, the font is all times roman. It's impossible to read. I'm using Firefox 1.5 and it's working fine with other sites. Javascript is enabled. I systematically went through and disabled my extensions. I can't figure it out. I'm thinking it could possibly be an entry in my hosts file. I haven't touched that in a long time, but maybe Blue made a minor tweak to the website. I have to use, *gasp*, MSIE!

Okay, this time I explicitely turned Javascript OFF and now Bluesnews looks fine. Typing in "Javascript:" turned up a lot of error messages but they were surprisingly unhelpful (all pointed to line 0). So something about Javascript and styles was changed and now everything's screwed up.

On a side note. I'm thinking about putting Oblivion aside for a few weeks or months. I've been playing it WAY too much and I think it would be good to just do other things and return to it fresh. Maybe I'm a game addict! Anyway, if I do that it'll stretch the enjoyability that much longer.
