Rubén studies English for the first three periods, and pre-algebra and math during the fourth and fifth. His sixth period is gym. How does he enjoy taking only reading and math, a recent visitor asked.
"I don't like history or science anyway," Rubén said. But a moment later, perhaps recalling something exciting he had heard about lab science, he sounded ambivalent. The motto that ran through my family sounded something like this: "Just because you don't like something doesn't mean you can avoid it."
It just seems to me that these students will become so "specialized" in either of the two subjects that they won't develop some form of appreciation early on for other subjects (science???? art?? history??)...
On the other hand, there's the possibility of homeschooling, provided one has the resources for that.

just seems like their B-movie remake of a LOTR story. apparently it's their re-broadcast of a German remake/ interpretation of Ring of the Nibelungs, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387541/
Based on the Germanic myth "Das Nibelungenlied" and the Nordic "Volsunga Saga" which also inspired the four-opera cycle by Richard Wagner and J.R.R. Tolkien's epic "The Lord of the Rings" sans fat broads in pointy horned helmets yodeling.

Ditto on the "thanks" for the standalone QT link - I had never noticed it myself, either.
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when my fear is gone I will turn and face fears path, and only I will remain |

Give it a shot, Bunko.
It really is an amazingly good and beautiful game.
It runs very well, too - better than any of the previous games did at launch. It is up there with D3 or F.E.A.R. in performance and it scales well.
Playing at 1024x768 high quality,
I think it actually runs better than Morrowind...more fun, so far, too...

Its communist in terms of them not giving me the freedom to choose the options I want. It is somewhat analogous to how things can be in a so called "communist" state. But it's very much more an example of how capitalism works. If you don't like it you have the freedom to not choose QT at all. |

If there is one thing communist that apple does, this is it
you are mistaken good sir, such vile tactics are purely CAPITALIST in nature I guess I confuse some with my terminology. Its communist in terms of them not giving me the freedom to choose the options I want. Forcing me to swallow their entire multimedia package just because I want a browser plug-in is what I was referring to as being "communist."

Mon March 27 http://www.scifi.com/darkkingdom/ it's Pulp Fantasy - could be good, could be poop.
Europe, the Dark Ages. (ooh that's always a good start.) When the evil Twin Kings betray the King of Xanten, the slain monarch's infant son, Prince Siegfried, narrowly escapes with his life, spirited away by the kindly blacksmith Eyvind. who later forges a Sword of Legend (tm) for Siegi from a meteor sent crashing to earth by the gods. Brunhild, the Valkyrie warrior queen and one true love of Siegfried, is played by Kristanna Lřken who starred opposite Ahnold Schvarzengruben as TX in Terminator 3. Max von Sydow is the Big Name thrown in for credibility.

CNN.com just got a new layout. I refreshed and BAM! something completely different.
Not bad. Just noticed that as well, since I usually leave a tab with CNN.com open all the time. Glad they got rid of the flash widget with the video (they kept the widget but it is no longer flash). But on the downside the page layout is wider than I like to keep my browser window. I prefer that web sites NOT make me resize or scroll horizontally to see all content. The majority of sites do not take column width into account so if I open all the way to read CNN, I would have to close it back down to read other sites to avoid unreasonably long lines of text (tough to read).
EDIT: Oh, and hopefully this new TIME cover story will serve as something of a wake-up call. Hopefully. I hope so as well, but I seriously doubt it.

I wish they'd separate their video content from the their text stories a little more (I never watch the videos) I'm the exact same way..I don't want their stupid assed video, I want to read the damn story...
They used to charge for video service, so now they're trying to call attention to video now being free. If anything, it annoys me...

I thought the exact opposite...every time they redo their page, it gets uglier and uglier... It took a step towards the layout of ABCNews methinks. It doesn't actually look a lot different, actually, just a little more modern. I wish they'd separate their video content from the their text stories a little more (I never watch the videos) but I'm okay with the new design. |
