Since I am, as the reviewer kindly states, a "twitch junky that doesn't give two shits about realism" that greatly enjoyed DoD, which is apparently a "linear action-junkie twitchfest", I guess this game isn't for me.

Zeph, you're trying far too hard. Your trolling isn't very well executed. BTW, trying to incite a flame war over how much realism is too much in games has been done to death . Good luck with your future lame trolling attempts though.

Yeah, well, in a war you could lose limbs, go blind, deaf, or just be an unlucky bitch & get hit with an artillery shell from out of nowhere.
Let's add that in!!!! It's realistic!
I know, we can add in people holding their intestines in and crying for most of a round. Oh I got it, lets add shaking uncontrollably from the cold Russian winter, that would be fun. No, wait, how about we have it where you don't see anyone for weeks at a time while you march toward the front. THAT WOULD BE REALLY FUN!!!
I don't give a fuck if they had green tracer bullets. It looks like star wars & its STUPID~!

Yes folks, believe it ir not, russians used and still use green tracer rounds.
But god forbid such a thing interfere with making a funny post.

Tracer rounds have been used extensively since World War 1.

Decided to look at a game trailer since there is no demo.
OMG THE REALISM IS INCREDIBLE!!!! They even have green-laser tracer-bullets, just like real life on the Eastern Front in WW2.
Er, um, wait, green-laser tracer-bullets ????? .......

Not much of that here, if that's what you're trying to imply, since the excitement seems to be "loved the mod, but I'll wait for a demo" or "played it, loved it"

The mod gave me more hours of fun than any retail game ever has, and the beta has assured me the full game will deliver even more.

A Steam thread right next to a StarForce thread?
FLAMEBAIT OPEN SEASON!
Aye, if Blue wanted to bring the age of the Apocalypse on us, he'd have a Derek Smart news item after this.
The trolls would inherit the earth.

Dammit! I don't have time for Oblivion AND Red Orchestra. Sorry RO, you're just gonna have to wait a month or so until I can get through the MQ, by that point there might be a demo out. I really enjoyed it when it was just infantry combat. For once it felt like actual skill was involved instead of just twitch reflexes.

I have to agree with the previous posters about this game showing high quality. I played for hours back when it was just infantry. And that 95 page manual that discusses infantry tactics with formations is just sweet!

What Harbringer said, ala HL2.
One thing I just noticed was the price. Isn't it $25 on Steam? This is saying $30 in the stores, maybe they're giving us a few dollars off for getting it online finally.

I'm pretty sure even the boxed version will still require a steam account to update and play.

A Steam thread right next to a StarForce thread? How is this a Steam thread? They are talking about the boxed version, which is published by Destineer. I didn't see the word 'Steam' in there anywhere.

Its Unreal Engine 2.5. They also won an unreal engine 3 licence, but decided to go for something they could actually finish and release in a reasonable timeframe.
My guess is that their next project will be UE3 (if Ostfront is successful)

How are the bots? There are no bots in the beta, I think, its not the whole game just 3 maps etc.
There will be bots in the retail, I dont know how good they will be.. RO isnt the most ideal bot game, its strength lies in teamplay and communication with real players..
Maybe if the bots are really, really good..

Wait I'm confused...
Is this game on the Source engine or Unreal engine? Or does it just use Steam as a delivery system?
I thought they acquired the Unreal 2.5 engine when they won the Make Something Unreal contest, correct?
