I own (or, have made an agreement with the record labels to listen to? %)) a variety of their albums - Music for the Masses, Violator, Songs of Faith and Devotion, Ultra, Exciter and Playing the Angel.... and I have to agree that the new wave quality isn't present at all in the last three albums I just mentioned - it's more synthpoprock with guitar, more or less.

And I agree with nin. DM is not new wave, and hasn't been for a long time. Want to hear their New Wave days? Go sample the album "Speak and Spell" and some of their other early stuff on iTunes.

Edit: too much caff this morning.

He cut the possum's face off then cut around the eye socket. In the center of the belt buckle, where the possum's eye would be, he has placed a small piece of wood from his old '52 Ford's home made railroad tie bumper. Damn, he misses that truck.

The Neo-New Wave movement out there sucks ass. I'm not saying that just because I listen to mostly hard-alternative rock, but because I was around when "New Wave" was here the first time. These new bands sound like a bunch of whining bitches with little or no talent, IMO.

DM hasn't been "New Wave" since about Violator or so, if not earlier...

u kids dunno what good music is when u hear it, its to be expected when 50 cent and corn are your idols...

I don't think anyone in the last decade has ever seriously listened to the words of someone who spells 'you' as 'u'....

"u kids dunno what good music is when u hear it, its to be expected when 50 cent and corn are your idols..."

And you don't seem to know what good grammar is, to say nothing of the fact that you've successfully managed to lump anyone and everyone in a specific age group with 50 Cent and Korn fans. I don't like pop music in general, but given that Depeche Mode has been predominantly concerned with commercial success for the last decade or so this isn't the worst move they could have made. Hell, I kinda want to hear it, and I don't even like the Sims games. How I wish Maxis would make a sequel to SimLife...

I often play Depeche Mode to people, who then tell me the music sounds like porn music. I guess it's not a stretch. So they should make music for the Making Woopie sessions in Sims 2.

EA are obviously still focusing investing their vast profits on gameplay innovations, depth and entertainment value rather than branding, marketing or flashy surface polish, I see.

I really hope it took a few wheel barrows of cash to get them to do this, I'm glad I'm not a depeche mode fan I guess but this whole thing just seems so very lame.
If they keep recording a track for each new sims expansion pack, by the end of the year they'll have enough material to release an album.

Wow, Blue, that was really bad. And you're showing your age too :)

Now that was a stupid comment you said to Blue, when he is obviously just doing his job. EA probably paid a good sum of cash to license Depeche Mode's music.

Words like Simlish
sound quite childish
just like the noise
the Sims do vocalize...
