Games Still Under Fire

Game Politics has word that a Utah bill that has already been struck down once is being proposed again, this time rewritten to focus solely on games, equating violent games with pornography. If passed, it could be a felony in Utah to knowingly sell or exhibit violent games to minors (which is apparently the case with porn). Game Politics is also reporting that some presumed dead legislation is still alive in North Carolina: "The legislation would make it illegal to sell games deemed 'harmful to minors.' In addition, such games would need to be displayed in an area not accessible to minors. Information concerning game ratings would also need to be displayed."

You know, if they put all of the effort and resources into something useful....well the world would be a better place wouldn't it?

An important to keep in mind is that as long as politicians (from both sides) are embroiled in things like this that get shot down time and time again, it keeps them from trying to make changes on things that actually matter. As long as they're being ineffectual here, they can't do any damage elsewhere.

This is bizarre; why aren't they also proposing 'violent' DVDs and videos be placed in their own curtained off section as well?

(rhetorical question; we all know it's because it'd show the stupidity of such a legislation)
