Really good demo, imo. It pretty much covers what you can expect from the full release. As far as the game goes - I like it.

Flo: If you haven't figured it out yet, here's the strategy that worked well for me. First, I made sure I had a heavy factory so I could build artillery, which is pretty much essential. With two artillery pieces deployed together near the initial reinforcement point (with a few tanks and soldiers for cover), I brought in as many other troops as I could, and took over the other two. I dropped another squad of artillery at the left point, where the bulk of my force was, and went around the north side.

With enough troops, the single light turret was easily defeated, and I could bring the artillery inside the shield. Once planted, I just kept my forces close and slowly steamrolled the base. Move the troops forward a bit, pack and then redeploy the artillery close enough to hit the next round of targets, and repeat as necessary. Once the shield is down, use your bombing runs and the artillery still at your start point to crush the rest of their base.

I don't think I will be getting the full version. I was expecting the game to be like Homeworld, C&C, SC, WC, etc. It was different and interesting. i didn't like the limited builds and limited places to build.

I think I will pass. I did like the cinematic scene mode, main menu, tutorial, etc.

I'm glad they didnt go the Homeworld route. Just wouldn't be suitable for the Star Wars franchise.

I admit my disapointment is based on my pre-conception of what to expect. I imagined a C&C ground RTS and a homeworld space RTS combined with a cool interface, only got one. The interface is cool, well thought out, and the graphics are excellent. The space part is in no way Homeworld, not even close. Homeworld is three dimensional, this is a two dimenssional RTS no different then if you were on land, weak. The ground RTS part I didnt like because there is no construction at all. The maps are all set piece maps, that you play out like a puzzel, you have no say on what can be built where. The game seems to be a great game, graphics ect, just not what I was hopeing for.

Damn, this game looks to be amazing. It's like Homeworld times a billion. I agree with the poster who said the Star Wars license is almost irrelevant. Extremely well designed title. I can't wait for this to ship.

It does have a pause and you can issue orders like another poster said.

Ah thanks, kinda annoying not having a shortcut but it's better than not having it at all.

Its over on the left, just above the minimap. Its a pause/play button. It kinda sucks because you have to press it with the cursor to pause.. theres no shortcut for it that I could find.

Huh, I hunted around around for a pause button last night. Which key is the default pause button. I get too stressed out in RTS games if I can't pause and issue commands. This is great news.

You have restored my faith in the Force.

Can't pause while in battles, I prolly won't end up getting this.

I can pause just fine and I'm in a battle. It works in space and on land. It lets you give commands while it is paused also which I like.

Your lack of faith disturbs me.

If you uncheck widescreen while viewing a 4:3 resolution, it's looks the same. Except you see 20% more at the top and bottom. The FOV is not correct. Correct widescreen FOV should allow you to see more not less. It's not stretched, but that doesn't make it correct. I don't know why developers can't get widescreen right, it's not excactly hard to do.

What a cool game, OK I might be a little biased since I'm a huge star wars fan but I'm also a very critical RTS player. I just couldnt beat the Ground Assoult on Tatooine in the Demo campaign, guess I gotta get more units in there. It also took me a while to figure out that i have to call for reinforcements to get the rest of my invasion fleet down. Really impressed so far.

yeah you are right, you see a little less. but the game does look nicer in widescreen. after comparing the two screenshots, the widescreen looks crisper and the full screen looks like it is squished.

I'm pretty new to RTS, have only played AOM: Titans, but my noob review is "omfg it's complicated". Translated, that means "New Hobby!". Definately gonna own this. On the surface it shows above average attention to detail and below the surface it shows that someone with a big brain put out like a ho.

I think he means the widescreen checkbox in the video options, which actually does correct the aspect ratio of the game so things don't look stretched on a widescreen display.

Wasn't expecting much since so many Star Wars games suck, but this one went from off my radar to preordered. Even if it wasn't Star Wars, this would be a damn fine game.

Very impressed; if you want people to buy your game, release a demo like this one.

It's fake widescreen, they just chop off the top and bottom, you end up seeing less.

yeah the aol was fast. 480k/sec not bad.

the game in itself is very nice. widescreen support so 1920x1080 is awesome. the cinematic mode is pretty nice, not useful but it adds a nice touch to the battles.

i will be buying this for sure. good move of them releasing a demo before its release.
